Same problem here. Park the car at the acupuncture clinic, and the local cat heads right for my car, up on the hood unless I intercept the little shithead. I love cats, but he's pushing it. My REAL problem is that spiders seem to LOVE my car. EVERY time I get in the thing, there are at least a few jumping spiders giving me the hairy eyeball.

I'd put a blanket on top of the car and put a few mouse traps baited with cat food. Remove the nail or anything else sharp from the trap that might actually hurt the cat though.

A plastic ziplock container* with some mothballs under your car works. Cats don't like the smell, but your neighbors might not like it either.

If it's really a stray cat, check Craigslist for non-profit organizations that re-home cats. Especially in CA, there are plenty of caring people with farms/barns that need mousers. Better than living in a parking lot with no food.

Had this issue with the 458 Italia, cousins cat go up the hood and chill on the roof. Ended up doing inhumane things to get her to never come back

Whatever the hell you do, do NOT scream at, yell at, run towards, or make any sort of violent gesture towards said cat while it is on your hood.

The last thing you want is for the cat to pull a Scooby-Doo with his legs while making a speedy escape from your hood/paint.
