Talked to my fabricator re OD and ID.
He said most people reference exhaust as OD. Confusing, as he said tubing is generally OD, piping is generally ID. With that in mind, exhausts should be called exhaust tube. Not satisfied, I pushed the issue further, because would you then not have to consider wall thickness to find out actual ID. If its typically OD, then as an example a full Tomei system that is specified as 60mm, would not line up as the headers and overpipe are stainless, and the rest is titanium. Titanium walls would be thinner. So IDs would be different. He believes that in that particular example, Tomei are a manufacturer that would quote ID. Still talking about Tomei. They state 60mm. Now lets assume that is ID. Comparing that to another system that is listed as 2.5", which is larger than 60mm, might have an ID smaller than the Tomei unit, depending on wall thickness. I think we need more members/vendors to get out their verniers. One for more accurate information, but also because you may be mixing and matching 2.5" components from different manufacturers that's arent the same ID. |

Haha yep, I've pretty much had all of these same thoughts and feelings. I wish I could go to a few of the big vendors and be let loose with a bunch of measuring devices.

Thanks. Updated.
There are some small discrepencies there in tenths of pounds. Like I already have the front pipe listed as 7.8, but you've got 7.6. I would say I'd go with the first to provide a photo of the weight on a scale, but different scales are going to read differently at those increments. And I assume most people don't care about a 0.2 pound discrepency in their exhaust anyway. I would, if two were tied. I'd want the lighter of the two, but I'm kind of crazy.

I should probably point out that the "TO-YO-07" looks almost exactly the same as the one you have in the list called "This Thing".

Haha "this thing." Yeah, I can't see the pictures to compare. It could be the same one. It seems like it's made in the UK though, and the This Thing is made in Japan. I haven't looked that much into either one though.
