Sorry man, but I don't believe in radar detectors. My advice is only go as fast as you think you can get away with and scan the horizon constantly. I am surprised nobody has come out with a V1 custom rear view mirror for our car yet.

I have it mounted like @FR-Shadow with a bracket to the rearview mirror I summon @xjohnx I believe he did a stealthy install.
Mine was a remote mount detector, made for that.

@Adeets what kind of detector are you running? The VSP has units now that can detect the V1's (well, they've had them for a while now, but they're starting to become more prevalent). The only line that i know they can't see as of yet are the higher end Escort/Beltronics models (9500/9500CI/STi/STi-R plus, Etc).

I didn't believe much in them either, but in the couple months of ownership, it has saved me like 3 times. (Of course, when you have it you drive more careless than before). I used to be scanning all over the place the whole time but not anyone. But those fuckers do know where to hide too! There is one spot coming from work, its a little bridge, and neither you or the radar can see them/get the signal until you are already over the bridge and in direct view of them.

Also try the Waze navigation app. It has hundreds of thousands of users. Speed traps are reported by users and sent to you if you have the app open. Try it. 90% of the traps I run up on have already been reported by someone else and I'm ready for them. The other 10% I am the first to report to help others, but I don't drive like a maniac and am always scanning for potential traps.

I love Virginia. Officers here don't have to worry about radar detectors for the most part so they're almost always rolling around with their radar blaring. Plenty of warning.

I second this. Waze is a fantastic app.

It's great if you live where people use it.

In the boondocks where I live there's maybe 1-2 people using at any given time.

Users also report construction and broken down vehicles so you know what's coming ahead.

I solved my issue, I filled the suction cups with crazy glue and made the suction cups flat, and then used rearview mirror mounting glue on both suction cups, since the warning on the package was "if you miss place the fitment of the rearview mounting plate, contact the vendor and mount a new mounting plate. WARNING: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REMOVE MISPLACED MOUNTING PLATE OR WINDSHIELD MAY BE DAMAGED."

I was like yeah... That's what I need. Works good so far, survived the cold snap this morning.

So you'd never guess what was waiting for me on my dashboard hanging from its power cord this evening.... Damage to the windshield my ass, it just flaked off.
