The term back pressure seems to be the forum talk for the concepts like exhaust velocity and scavaging effects. It's a complex concept that some how got shorted to one term.

Yes a straight through bottle style resonator that uses some type of absorbent material will only have minimal added turbulence inside which won't do much of anything for added "back pressure" or to hinder overall flow

Does a resonator quiet down the entire rpm band like a muffler or what? How are they different?

A resonator will change the tone of the exhaust more so then the overall volume. Added a resonator will mellow out the sound and depending on the size and placement the tone can be adjusted. Often taking out the rasp and higher pitch sounds can make the exhaust seem quieter as it is less abrasive to the ear.

I really like my Berks sound everywhere except 2200rpm, and in my Auto that's basically where the needle goes every time I touch the gas. I was going to do something to quiet the exhaust a little but really that louder and more irritating spot is what ide like to kill. So recommend a resonator or muffler?

Yeah, but when people reference back pressure they never actually mean exhaust velocity or ever talk about scavenging effects though.

This is true and I'm not trying to take this discussion there... In theory, the muffler delete makes sense. Unfortunately the actual results haven't been good at all.

FA20Club built a full 3" exhaust for their track car knowing that they were going to install a turbo soon. They strapped the car to the dyno only to see that it lost power. The rest of the car was still stock other than a drop in filter. The full 3" is optimal for turbo setups but the car didn't respond well to it NA.

Where can i get that turn-down. I've been looking for an adequate one for a long while.

chadstyle, based on what you've seen do any exhaust mods post-cat make any gains (stock ECU)? Any catback, muffler...?

It lost power because the diameter of the entire exhaust was increased, hence increasing the cross sectional area the air flows and decreasing exhaust velocity. An otherwise stock car with a berk/works or muffler delete would not lose as much power as this set up, or any at all.
