Question: Does anyone know what you need to do in order to have the front turn signals stay off when not in use? So the lights go on only when turn signals are used. I want to disable parking lights because I am planning on installing a LED strip and having stock parking lights and LEDs would be just too much for my taste.

Best Answer: There are three ways to do it:

1. Buy bulb 7440 that eliminates parking lights. Available in orange and chrome finish.
2. Cut connection clip on the existing light bulb. Cut the clip that connects to the green wire.
3. Cut the green wire connecting the light bulb (not recommended)

Thanks everybody for help!

Thanks in advance for help!

Sorry if this was already discussed, I spent a good amount of time searching for this without any results.
I went with switchback lights like these. I know it's not exactly what you asked for, but you get a cool white LED (6000k) instead of amber for parking lights, and then the normal (and legal) amber when used as turn signals.

Cool, I'll try to either find that light bulb that doesn't stay on or I'll just cut the green wire. Thanks a lot!

So you're just trying to eliminate the parking lights? Why?

It's one bulb with three wires. Just cut the green one.

I'm going to install LED strip (the one sold by Zeta and several other suppliers). My plan is to use tinting foil to black out the turn signal and have LED only strip lights on, but have the original turn signal operational. IMO having LED strip and parking lights on at the same time will be just too much, so I want to disable them.

LEAVE FACTORY WIRING ALONE!!!, just clip the metal tabs on the bulbs to the always on side. No damage to factory wiring and no buying bulbs! PM me with questions/help if you need it.

i wanted to change my turn signal bulbs to yellow, so i purchased single filament bulbs vs the dual filament factory bulbs. that way they only turn on when activating the turn signals.

this or buy a pair of 7440 bulbs. avoid cutting factory wiring if you can. yes, it can be repaired, but why would you wanna deal with that?

also if you go the bulb-buying route, i recommend chrome ones as they look nicer: http://www.hidlightsusa.com/shopping...s&sc=7440/7443

+1 for getting 7440 bulbs. i never would want to cut factory wires. i replaced both sets of turn signals with led and the bulbs are the same size but the front ones have extra contacts on them that works for the parking light.
