I visited my local Scion dealership this morning for my free 7500 mi service. Came up empty regarding the ZA1JA01C reflash. That ended up being a complete waste of time. Dealership did state that I'm currently at ZA1JA00C and 01C does not exist in their system. I have a good friend in a different dealership's parts dept that is going to verify the existence of 01C for me.

I brought a copy of the SA "TSB" with me so they were able to read about the problem. The "high rpm detonation" is the service dept's words not mine.

01C does exist. The dealers just don't have a bulletin or reference to install it in the US. They are installing it in Europe and we have confirmed that newer cars have ZA1JA01C installed. This is one of those deals where the dealers and corporate need to pull their heads out of their asses and reflash people to ZA1JA01C.

A person in my household works for an attorney specializing in these types of things. In fact, his firm currently has a class action suit pending against a certain well known German car manufacturer. On the way home from the dealership we were discussing getting his opinion on the way Toyota/Subaru is handling this.

I'm going in on Saturday to try to get the latest ECU update. I don't expect to get it (I'm outside the listed VIN range), but will post an update.

On a separate note, I see some of you guys with Dec 2012 and Jan 2013 build dates with VIN's 171XXXX...

My VIN is 1608146, but the manufacture date on the door jam shows Feb 2013 (2/13)?

What transmission do you have?

I believe the 171 VINs mentioned may have been all manuals.

Yup, to the point where they will blame a catback or catless headerback exhaust or a cold air intake for say the failure of a taillight or a blown engine, then refuse to service, every dealer is different though so its hard categorize all of them like that, but the majority are.

That's the sad reason I have avoided doing anything performance-wise to my car right now...

You could always fight them, if they refuse service the part, they have to prove the aftermarket mod caused the failure of the part, otherwise you can get a lawyer and use the magnusson moss warranty act and sue them for improper service and you will win plus you'll get more money for parts

@WingsofWar Please I call upon you to help us. This thread has gone a tad bit out of hand, all speculation and rumors and off task threads. I think the time has come to lock this thread.
