My Subaru dealer would update to a new version automatically, per the service advisor. He said it's standard procedure.

Good to know. Those Tahitian dealers have their act together

2. Find out of the car already HAS the update on it
3. If it does not, how much will it cost to have the update loaded. She said she CAN upload it of it is not on the car, but since there is no TSB for it, I would be charged.
It is probably still worth it to pay for it, but it seems strange that you would have to since it actually fixes a known issue that could result in significant damage to your car.

But at least your dealer is working with you. I suspect people are going to get mixed responses and deer in the headlights looks from some dealers...

I can't believe that Scion wouldn't update to the current version. That's not very friendly.

Sub'd for this. I still have to figure out when my build date was. I believe early 2013, I'm really hoping that it had this update. Seems kinda stupid that they would charge you for not necessarily upgrading you, but fixing it since there is a KNOWN issue..oh well, depending on the cost (which I can't see being more than an hour of labor) it would be worth not having to deal with it when your injector seals fail.

Well a BRZ owner in another thread is not even getting the option to upgrade at all since the Subaru dealer could not find a TSB/advisory.

I suspect getting this resolved without a bulletin or TSB in the US is going to be a mixed bag...

From my understanding, Subaru will do anything to get out of doing work for your car. Apparently they don't even wanna do work if you want to pay for it

See if you can get a copy of the actual TSB or the TSB #.

Sounds like there's a TSB from Toyota but not from Subaru? Weird.

if we need to pay for flash at dealer, why not just getting a tune from EcuTeck.
stealership...I am also going to stop by nearby dealership to check out my car next weekend. my BRZ was pre-ordered and delivered in mid-January 2013 and hoping that i have latest calibration

Alright, here's what I've got.

The tech says that they can't do the update even if I pay because the computer would reject it. Not sure how much of this is BS, but maybe someone on here could shed some light on the subject.

Here is the paperwork I got today.

I've included the sheet where they list the vin numbers of the cars that are "defective" and mine is not in it.

My question is this: Has/Can anyone take a car outside of these vin numbers and check and see if those transient tables exist. I'm wondering if the fix was done quietly even BEFORE the African "TSB" came out as the vin numbers for Africa look completely different from what I got today.

For reference, as you can see in the documents, My build date is January 9th, 2013

I'm willing to give up my time if there is a vender/sponsor that wants to use my car for a day. Just don't have the money to pay for a tune or dyno time for a problem that could possibly already be fixed.

Agreed. I don't believe there is a TSB in the states for the DI issue. Suaveflooder, did you find out what software version you are at now?

My car has a 12/12 build date and like suave a 17168xx VIN so I'm outside the range as well, delivered 2nd week of January. Thanks for saving me some time for now.

Edit: I'm sure they have a way to override the computer and flash what software they have onto the car, even if it means just putting in a fake VIN, they're just not willing to bend the rules to do it for you. "What do I put in for work performed? None of the drop down boxes fit and if I lie I might lose my job" can't blame them, can only try to see what flash is currently on the car.
