I am surprised by the way some folks defend these traction control systems. As though driving without them is reckless.
This is exactly how all AE86 and 2000GT are driven. |

You guys also assume that most people know what they are doing when they start to lose the backend and know how to course correct. For many people this may be their first RWD sports car.. Hell, it could be their first car. |

One difficult aspect of these stability controls is manufacturers can make the car less stable and make the driver rely on stability control to keep things under control. That's not why they were invented but that's what they are often used for. My opinion is that the Torsen diff is too tight. The car actually twitches worse with stability control on than it does with it off. There's also a rear toe out problem that I think is deliberate, which makes the car unnecessarily unstable. The rear suspension allows early oversteer which is slow and hard to control. |

Pointless or not, I like to keep it off, I live through a twisty road anyways... so my commute always has a lil bit of spirited driving. Those who buy a brand new car as a first car are stupid... the first year is where most accidents happen, granted my first car didn't have any nannies and I didn't crash it, but I did lose control, I regained it with some pure luck, but when a FWD car looses the back end, you better hold on for the ride... I bought new tires and underware after that... the joys of being 16... lol |

This would be an easy fix. TC off and accident = no coverage. Just like if you are not wearing your seat belt and get in an accident.
You morons aren't just putting your own lives and (precious) cars at risk. There are other people involved too. Save the TC off for the track. If you are on the road, be responsible and leave it ON. I definitely see a future for people getting in trouble for not having it on. Wreck into me because you lost control of your car and you had TC off? I'm going to sue the (*&$(&* out of you for being a moron. |
