For some reason I actually prefer Sport Mode TC during AutoX. I'm no expert at it yet with only 2 seasons worth of AutoX. But leaving the Sport Mode TC lets me concentrate on braking, steering inputs, and getting to know the limits without spinning out. When I do my 4 runs per event, I turn it on the first run, turn it off the 2nd run, turn it on again on 3rd, and depending on which is faster I will either turn it on or off for the 4th.

Yes, there have been times on the straights that I would have gone a little bit faster if it didnt kick in, but it also could have saved my car from starting to slide at that point due to poor traction.

Another reason I benefit from this is that the surface on Bremerton is so inconsistent and shitty that it is hard to know where all the bad traction areas are. With the limited 4 runs we get I dont get a lot of seat time

Just my 2 cents

I'm not saying what anybody else should do, I am just explaining the reasoning behind what I do. Regardless of analogy, if the driver is not relying solely on their abilities, then what are they relying on? This is exactly my point. I choose to rely on myself rather than a computer that may not fully understand the scenario.

Allow me to clarify. I'm not talking about being unsafe. I'm talking about situations where the computer interrupting your inputs can do more harm than good. If I need to get out-of-the-way quickly, and I want full power without any sort of interruption, then traction control is going to get in my way. I would rather make the human decision to do what needs to be done rather than allow a computer to try to decide what is best for me.

Except you can only control so much. You can't individually brake one wheel more than another, you can't choose to send more power to the left vs right tire, etc. It's electronic control that allows things like the GT-R to be so blisteringly quick and stable in virtually every driving situation. All comes down to complexity and type of coding and programming in the TC/VCS/etc. Sometimes its faster, sometimes it's not. There's a reason why driving aides like traction control have been banned from motorsports like F1: because they want the drivers to have to deal with those inputs rather than put their foot down and get fast consistent times without much need of finesse.

The guys who want to turn off TC to gain half a second, are those the same people that'll remove airbags to make the car lighter?

It's the guys who spend hundreds of dollars on carbon fiber parts to save a few pounds, but then add 50 lbs worth of speakers in the back.

Nor do I need to.

Gents, I am not saying the systems are bad. I just prefer them off.

Everyone can choose to have TC on or Off.

Those who need to have mommy and daddy hold their hand to cross the street and tell them what to do keep TC on.

Those who rely on themselves, and know what to and not to do, keep TC off

Exactly... If you need to have a computer individually control your brakes as you corner, you are doing something wrong.

Or you can know what to and not to do and leave TC on most of the time. I don't find the TC in this car invasive at all. Drive a Gencoupe sometime... Or a GTI....
