So I have to ask... Out of what 20k plus in cars that have been sold the first model year.. Toyota has said, screw you guys and refuse to install the new map or tune or what ever... And leave a potential shit storm with 20 thousand owners, instead of just adding a reflash to those owners..... really???? So basically your telling me that Toyota is going to possibly warranty 20k engines, instead of re flashing them..... Yeah... There is more to it then that lol

But y'all believe what you want

Unless there have been other revisions to the engines that we're unaware of... which is very possible.

@ft_sjo, why is there a month gap between computers? Any Idea? My car falls right in the middle of the December 12 and the January 13 (Mine was built January 4th)
Ft_sjo's calibration dates and versions don't line up.. Mine should be A00 according to his info.. And it's A01.. If Im understanding it correctly..

So take what you want from that, my bet would be that's for the 700, A00 and A01 cals accordingly...
Your bet is wrong. I have a Jan-13 build date and a version A00 flash. Unlucky me.

And please, no more talk of regal and silly sausages. You constantly whiffing at everything Regal says (right or wrong) makes you look like a lil puppy following him around like he has sausages coming out his @sshole.

Corporations have done some dumb things in the past.. So it should be of no surprise.. If They are betting people will just drive it normally on the street then they will not get many in for service warranty, if they address it and have to modify each one, that seems to be possibly more costly than replacing some DI injector seals on a small amount of cars.
Who knows what they're thinking.. If anything..

It could be this, or it could be that they have just not released a US TSB because there have not been enough reported issues yet. If it is just a reflash, this should be straight forward. There are other 2012 owners who have had their car reflashed to the new calibration via their tuner, and I have not read any reports of issues with their car.

I think this is an odd situation where until there is a TSB the dealer cannot help you. And there is not a TSB because this is not a widespread issue... My guess is that it will take a bunch of folks bringing this issue to the attention to Toyota and Subaru corporate so a formal TSB/bulletin is in the system telling dealers to reflash to the latest cal file.

Perhaps you can't read. I thought it was clear. I'll try again; my 'bet' is January is A00 (which you have) and A01 only came out in Jun/July. I do not know for sure if cars flashed at the factory are 'in sync' with the parts available to dealerships. It's possible a car in January did have A01, but wasn't available as a spare part until July. Who knows. I don't even know where this rumour came from that Jan13 came with A01.

That's just what it say's on the parts system. There will most likely be some overlap, so I wouldn't take it as hard cut-off dates.

I don't know what cal comes on each of those three part numbers, so can't say for sure which you have, sorry chap.

The South African memo indicated that cars produced sometime in January 13 had the new 01 Cal. We have a number of people with a build date of Feb 13 and on that have the 01 Cal. So it seems to be loaded on cars with a build date of at least February 2013 and on, but someone with a December build date reported having it. My guess is that if your car was build before February 2013, it is worth verifying what cal file you have.

VCI cable? You mean a OBD2 scanner?

No.. A mini-VCI cable.. It's a chipped cable used to interface with techstream.
Look on amazon.. Was around $25 and I have a beater laptop running win 7.
Very useful and informative tool .. Also does OBDII diagnostics.. And sets options like DRL on- off, timers, etc..
