There may be hope. My primary concern with modding my car, aside from basic bolt ons, are the tuning solutions for this platform. I take back every complaint I ever made about HPTuners.

I'm with the many in this thread, EcuTek as a tuning solution is unacceptable, unless you have wads of cash to blow and even then I want to do my own tuning. Give me a base tune and I'll handle it from there, thank you very much.

This loader/logger? and TunerPro looks like a solution to my tuning needs. May take months for me to get proficent with them but I have plenty of time.

I'd vote Github so we can leverage their features (e.g. Issues, comments, etc…).

I'd love to help! Let me know…

Agreed. I don't see any reason to do extra work or rely on hosting that's probably not as github's.

that's pretty much the thought process... let github do what it is good at, and make integration optional. basically a tune can link to a repo and get all the cool extras that come with it, or just upload a file so that a github account isn't entirely necessary for folks who don't have them. or maybe require github so the ux is more consistent. not sure.

pm me if you're interested in helping out and i'll add you to the repo for the project.

I agree but just because ecutek said it is difficult doesn't mean it can't be done

Patching a rom isn't something a typical tuner can do. If someone else has made the changes they can adjust the values, but you're talking about reverse engineering a rom and making changes in assembly in very limited space.

If you haven't looked vishnu has already done something similar for the bmw guys. I agree with saying that a typical tuner won't do this but it's not because it's too challenging, It's because it's time consuming

Plus too challenging. It doesn't fit the skillset of a tuner at all. If it did tuners wouldn't follow ecutek around like dogs.

Hello,
Off-the-shelf maps will be available for those who don't want to do any tuning. Just upload the map and go. Of course, the ability to custom tune to your hearts content is also there for those people who are up for the challenge.

Funny you mention that, one of our BMW OpenFlash Tablet users goes by the forum name Captain Insano. And he just broke the world HP record for the BMW n54 engine a few days ago:

Fortunately, we aren't limited by what Alientech offers with their Powergate units. Our firmware is written in-house on an application by application basis. Here is an example of what we are doing with our BMW N54 OpenFlash Tablet:
