Hey guys is there any chance of screwing turbo up when going through heavy rain and standing water?

I wouldn't think so. The air intake is factory so you should be ok there. With the metal under tray installed the turbo is pretty well covered. My buddy has a 997 Turbo and his are just hanging out under the motor and they don't have any issues with water.

I'd be cautious of just having ran the turbo good (exhaust glowing red), and going through standing water right after. Thermal shock will not be pretty.

Having said that, if you plan on going through standing water deep enough to reach the turbo, you have other problems to deal with....

If you are refering to me, then I apologize. I don't completely understand what turbo you are using. I just thought it was slightly smaller than a GT2871R which I don't consider a large turbo either. I guess the reason is that I can look up the stats on an off the shelf turbo, but I believe your kit comes with a custom turbo, and I haven't seen the stats on it.

I got the exhaust leak fixed last week by @KAB-FRS. Cars feels completely different

I think a core issue here is CHRA sizing. The 2871R, for instance, is a catch-all for about 17 different CHRA combinations on the Garrett catalog. We use two different types of the 2871, one that's good for about 39lb/min, and another that is good for 42~44lb/min depending on hotside. The turbo in our BRZ/FR-S turbo kit performs nearly as well as the 44lb/min 2871 CHRA from our testing, though it does get choked down at the upper boost levels (past 16psi). But then, for that matter we can run the larger 2871R at 45psi on the diesel racing trucks with our larger stainless steel hotsides.

We just believe in right-sizing a turbocharger for optimal performance. We could certainly throw a larger turbocharger at the twins, but daily driving enjoyment will suffer. Some people have different needs though, and I respect that.

When I came back from SEMA last year on the maiden voyage of battleship AVO, the very last bit was about 2 hours through monsoon level rain at 70-ish mph, hydroplaning through rather deep puddles. That was about 10 months ago, no issues at the time, no issues since.

I am not hitting 15 psi.

I'm at the same 13 psi. I will be doing around 15 psi with E85 soon.

Peak HP run was done with 14 psi.

I dialed it down to 13 psi before leaving the Dyno.

I have been hitting the same 13 psi after leak fix.

either way, new calibration will happen soon.
