I'll have to dig through my notes - the main addition to the weight is the FMIC. The exhaust manifold/turbo/turbo discharge pipe only adds about 5-10 pounds over the the weight of the OEM exhaust manifold/cat it replaces.

I have my GT 86 booked into Fensport, the UK AVO agents, to have an AVO kit fitted end of next week. I believe that mine will be the first customer car in the UK fitted with the kit

I just placed a deposit for the base kit + BOV + breather tank and Ecuteck. Hope to get it in a month or so.

Thank you. :happy0180:

I really cannot wait! I am going for 8psi boost (at least initially). That should address the only shortcoming of the car, in my opinion.

The BRZ has been getting some more tuning this week and made 215 rwkw at 8 psi, on e80. Stock baseline 109 rwkw.

That's around 330 whp using dynojet numbers from drift office's charts on page 1.

My car will be tuned on 99 octane (RON). I will post up a dyno chart once it is done.

Right from page 1 of this thread I was commenting how much I like the oem type design of this kit! Here's a picture with no AVO lettering:

I've been seeing here and there comments about how "tiny" the turbocharger that we use is, and I have to admit, it irks me. Because it is, if anything, on the large size for somebody doing a daily driver build on a 2.0-liter motor. OEM turbochargers are much smaller and run out of breath much sooner, while we've been pushing past 300whp (wheel, not crank) at 10~11psi on 92 octane fuel. That's still 4~6psi before the turbo starts running out of breath.

A tiny turbo would be like the ones that Subaru uses on the 2.0-liter motors in Japan (I've owned 5 of them!), which run out of steam completely at 250-270whp. On the flip side, they did spool a bit better than our setup - by a couple hundred rpm at most, though.

Pay no mind, those are the guys that like to compare their peewee sizes. In short, they know nothing.

I don't consider 38lb/min turbochargers as being tiny. In fact, the GT2871r flows just about the same amount of air and I don't see anyone saying that the 2871r is a small turbocharger.

On the other hand, the TD04 on my 02 WRX (gone, but not forgotten) hit peak torque at 3000rpm on 93octane on an unloaded dyno. So quite a bit sooner than a couple of hundred RPMs. Only made 240whp or so, on all fours. And torque drops like crazy after 6200rpm or sooner.

Things like throttle response and drivability don't win on the Internet, it's all about peak hp numbers, drag times and what you "owned" on the street.

FWIW, I agree with you. The turbo you've used is slightly on the large side for a street driven (not street raced) car. I've had your kit on the dyno, along with others available and think anyone looking to go bigger needs to ask themselves why. If you need that hp, fine ... but don't kid yourself that you're not giving anything up and shifting the car closer to pig than Porsche. Most people confuse boost threshold with lag and they are NOT the same thing. Some pretty ordinary cars can have great looking power curves when loaded on the dyno.

There are no free lunches nor magical turbos that make 500hp from 2 litres, while still being nice when on and off throttle in a daily driven situation.

If you're choosing a turbo for street use based on a dyno sheet alone, you're doing it wrong.

Well personally, I am quite happy with the size of my equipment, so I do not need 'big' turbo bragging rights
I decided to get the AVO kit for my GT 86 when Paul first started this thread exactly a year ago today :happy0180: As posted already, my kit is currently in the process of being fitted

Perhaps for those who complain about the size of the turbo in the AVO kit, may I suggest these
