Originally i took it too the dealer think it was suspension or steering grind but im guessig since its only started since i put on this over pipe, that has to be the only thing left. I will try wrapping it, i just re torqued all the exhaust bolts and double checked the engine mounts. Thanks for all your help this is for sure one of the better forums ive ever been on!

put the car up on jack stands, loosen your exhaust connection at the overpipe/header, then use your jack to lift the front/overpipe up, then retighten.
try to create a 3/8 to 1/2 in gap between the pipe and the subframe. Obviously this will be variable dependent upon the car, but this should solve your issue. It did for me. |

I was able to push it up a bit, got about a 1/4" betwen the swaybar and pipe. Dented the pipe at that location slightly to allow a bit more room. Prior it was touching the swaybar at rest. Stock swaybar, but looing to upgrade soon, but would prefer to have the new bar installed without the pipe hitting/rubbing on it. |

I was thinking of using a spacer on the swaybar subframe mounts to bring it down just a bit. Only really hear it on first gear takeoffs when slightly more aggressive.

To fix my problem, I modified the bracket that hold my front pipe to the tranny to make the bracket shorter and push the exhasut system higher toward the floor of the car. It did help, it was now 50% better but I was still hearing bumping noise in some circonstance. So I had no other choice than using a torch to warm the overpipe and I used a hammer with a punch to create a small bump onto the overpipe to give me the clearance needed. Problem resolved. Now I'm having another problem, it look like I've lost a lot of torque. The car feel lazy below 4500rpm. I will send a log to Toni may be he can fix that. Right now I feel like I've spend 300$ to make my car slower.

Have you given the ECU time to adjust? It might take a few drive cycles to sort itself out.

Well to be honest not that much. This was my first impression right after the install. Today my car was feeling pulling better but my ecutek logs showed I was fully rich.

The best way to get clearance when installing over and mid pipes is to leave everything loose and start at the downpipe/header with tightening things. If you need more clearance in an area then get a buddy with a pry bar to stick it in and pry where you need clearance before tightening.

I have the Milltek non-catted system with overpipe. When I installed the system I had about 1/3" clearance between the overpipe and swy bar. On cobblestone roads and hard left turns, it rattles.
Tonight I took the car out or it's first track day. Immediately after the first few corners, it began to sound like a jack hammer under my car near the overpipe. I checked it after the first session and tried to readjust it. This helped for about 4 laps and then it came back jut the same. The odd thing is, driving back home after we finished racing there was NO rattle at all. I have got to find a solution to this. I'm not keen on denting the pipe but I am willing to try modifying the transmission exhaust hanger. Any other suggestions without shimming the sway bar? |
