I think you should try and have a look at the gasoline door cable as it was the source of some rattling for me. I remedied this by wrapping some foam around it where it hits the fender near the taillight. Hope this helps.

I tried this before, no luck
I insulated it with Raammat, no more rattles, noises of any kind

Wow, thanks for the insight. It's nice when this forum works this way. A helpful and useful way.

Just curious, what does this tab do, or support?

Either way it fixed my rattling issue. If I find myself in New Zealand I am buying you a pint.

If you have a read of the second link in my original post where that thread shows the rear deck taken apart it holds some little electronic box (remote receiver or something). The bolt is at one end of it and is held firm while the other end has the tab that seems to align it with where it should fit.

Because it has the bolt at the other end the end with the tab is free to vibrate and rattle against the rear deck/parcel shelf. Bending the tab means that end stops rattling.

Bending the tab effectively does the fix in that thread but a heck of a lot simpler than taking the rear deck/parcel shelf apart.

Yes. Yes you do. Unfortunately I am still 4 months out of being of age, plus you live on the other side of the world. However, I can PayPal you a few bucks so you can go have a beer.

I'm just glad it fixed it for you! I've just driven to work (Fri morning here) and love the peace and quiet with no rattles.

but what is your drinking age in Omaha? I always find it quite interesting that in what is quite a liberal society some of your States have quite high drinking ages. Ours was 20 but was lowered a few years ago now to 18.

Here's sharing a beer with you - cheers!

Will have to try this when I get home. There about 5 rattles in my car that are driving me nuts.
A sort of knocking sound coming from the rear (not the metal clicking issue).
A buzzing sound during a low exhaust tone (possible this issue).
A buzzing sound coming from the rear drivers side trim panel.
A tapping sound coming from behind the stereo.
A buzzing sound coming from the passenger side door (even after dynamat!)

Yup, I'm a little nuts...

Yeah, give it a go. should at least solve items 1 and 2 and if 3 and 4 are a bit hard to work out the direction it could solve that too. I thought one of my rattles was coming from the passenger side (drivers side in LHD) stereo speaker and this fix stopped that too!
