I'll probably just keep driving on this fuel pump and hope for the best rather than have Toyota mess with my car each time. |

What's more, for many people it transformed within a few hundred miles and is clearly very irritating and spoiling the car for them. It was just a suggestion. We don't have the problem here. |

http://www.ncdsusa.org They have a form you fill out and mail in, I received a phone call and email within two weeks. They're are a free organization that helps the car buyer through the faulty vehicle situation. Be organized and thorough with your receipts and learn up on your states lemon law. I have an appointment with them and toyota to look through my car and determine what the next step is. Being told by toyota that "This is a year one car, you should expect this", is not a good enough reason to not have a fix. |

Whos to say its not a much larger problem that we just dont know about yet. Maybe 50k-100k down the road we are all like ooohhhhh thats why it was chirping and somthing BIG happens on the car. We all know it SHOULDNT be chirping. We didnt buy it with the chirp and we dont want the chirp. So i dont see how the lemon law doesnt fall into place. As long as you word it correctly anything falls into place. The lemon law only works for so many miles then your screwed. I plan on taking action with the lemon law if mine continues. They are obligated to give you a NEW car or all your money back. So we will see.

You can certainly try to go to arbitration for this, but good luck. I would not even waste my time. I will definitely complain to both my dealer and Subaru America, but expecting to get Toyoya or Subaru to replace your car for something this minor is not being very realistic. Every car I have ever owned has had quirks. If the worst thing this car has is some intermittent crickets I will be happy. A new car would be useless. All of the cars have this issue in the US (or the potential to have the issue). They all use the same HPFP. |

Only the Shell 91 is Ethanol free here that is why I use it over the petro 94, 94 has 10% Ethanol. Sure it is designed for 93+ but I does say 91 is perfectly fine and I would rather run the 91 with no ethanol |

Fair enough. I would do the same but it does mean the performance will be reduced.

Would there be any benefit to running an octane booster with 91-E0 gasoline; to help performance, or is that crazy talk? I will be filling up tomorrow for the second time after using E0 gas with no crickets. I love not having the crickets, but if performance is being lessened, it's a tough trade-off.

I think the danger with octane booster is that it can block the cats.
If you can't feel the difference it can't be that much. What do they say, you can feel 10% but not 5%? Keep moaning to the dealer. |

That is probably all of our best bets at this point. Unfortunately I don't think this is a fix the community can provide. The manufactures need to step up and solve the issue.

So I just had my one yr anniversary with my car. It's a love, hate, relationship.
I haven't been on this site since Jan. I'm back because the crickets are back, for the third time !! I have 18XXX mi. Two ECU's, two fuel pumps, one rear taillight. Dealers been ok I guess, considering all the posts I just read. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't buy this car. I've owned, and do own, Lexus, Toyota, Scion. Never buying a Scion again. Not looking forward to going through all this crap again. Toyota is about to lose a lifelong customer of 30 yrs, to Honda, if this doesn't get resolved. |

Its not the gas. Toyota should have known how 93 oct Chevron gas would have affected the fuel pump. That's most likely the best, most widely accessible gas, on the west coast of the U.S.
I think the construction of the fuel pump is the issue, IMHO. |
