1400 miles and finally got the crickets. Running 92 octane Sams Club gas. They are mild compared to the waste gate rattle in my 13 Gencoupe......

I had my fuel pump replaced July 12th. The crickets went away for 4-5 days, however, I'm sad to report that they are back with a vengeance. Take this for what you will, but, I'm using 91 Octane gas (93 isn't available in CO) which contains ethanol. I would try the 0 ethanol gas, however, there isn't a station remotely close to my area which has it.

Some people don't have access to 93 just like some people don't have access to E0. There is literally no where in Wichita that sells 93.

How about someone organising a register with all the chirpers, FRS and BRZ, on it with names and rego. Then contact Scion/Toyota and Subaru with the numbers and demand a resolution or you take it to the press?
It's been well over a year now and they've done nothing to solve the problem. |

Maybe they should have set the car up specifically for 91 E10 for the US but then the lower official power output might have scared off customers? |

Keep in mind for folks in places like Colorado and Utah. They typically don't have access to higher octane gas in most locations because they are above sea level and air is thiner. Which means you have less air going into the cylinders. 91 octane above sea level is most likely the equivalent to 93+ octane gas @ sea level.

Weird noise like crickets when you are idling in the car with the windows down? If this is the noise, I would note it with the dealership but there is no known fix, so even if they give you a new high pressure fuel pump, you will most likely get them again. One solution to try is if you have access to 0 ethernol gasoline. Try filling up with that. I am going to give it a shot as well.

So after I switched from Petro Canada 94 to Shell 91, the chirping stopped, as I previously stated.
NOW.. they are back :/ I'm at 3500k sooo 2000 miles? It sounds like belts to me |

take what to the press? that your car makes noise? That will be front page on New York Times... This is whats called a non-impacting issue. It does not affect performance or operation of the vehicle, no gurantee or promisory note was made as to the sound of the vehicle.
