Here's my car, with a 18x9 +42, 245/35/18 test fitted in the front - this is poking from the wheel well at stock height by about 5-10mm in the front. In the rear it's probably going to look pretty much flush at stock height.



You are proposing 18x9 +33, 255/35/18 - so picture mine with a meatier tire, and 9mm further out from the wheel well (which it is already 5-10mm out already). Lots of poke in the front.

In order to avoid so much poke on stock suspension, you have a few options.

Stretching the tire is an option I suppose, but the wheel is still poking the exact same amount, its just the tire might make it look a bit closer to the wheel well. It's not going to look great, I don't like the stretched tire look, I really don't like it with stock suspension. Personal preference. My tires are more stretched than I wanted... think its the brand of tire really.

The other option is to add lots of camber. Hard to do with stock suspension. Again at stock height this might look sillier than if it were the same car lowered. But an option none the less. 3 degrees might work.

You might be able to have the backpad of the wheel machined by 10mm. But that's going to cost money to have it done properly, you had better love those wheels because now they're custom and if you ever break/bend a wheel you're going to have to get the same process done to them next time.

The last option, and the best option IMO is to get a different wheel with a higher offset. At 18x9 and stock height, I wouldn't do any more than +42, maybe +40 if you're doing 255/35/18. If you go any higher you will hit the struts/springs. This will still poke, like my picture above, but not as offensively as a +33.

If you are set on those wheels with those tires, either lower it and add a bit of camber, or just deal with lots of poke.

I'd say. It'll stick out 7mm more than this, which is 17x9 +42 with the same tire size. This is with Whiteline Com-C upper strut mounts for -2 degrees front camber.

That's more than 1" drop. It's also nearly 3 degrees of camber. But yes, can be done!

Hey guys, im a noob with wheel fitment and have been reading up past few days.
Im hoping to settle on my first wheel purchase which i am looking at miros type 398s
I wanted a square setup. the wheel size is

18x8.5 +34
and were thinking about tire sizes at
235 40 18

i am not lowered and on stock suspension. I might lower after i buy wheels with a 1inch drop.

Is there anything else i need or am forgetting about? Im not too worried about making it flush, just want the new wheels to fill out the gaps a bit better and not poke.

Im still looking but i havent seen any setups with 8.5 width and a 34 offset, most setups ive been seeing are between 40-45mm offset, which has prompted me to ask. The fitmet chart also lists 44 front and 37 back offset for flushness. So im wondering if +34 is too much of a difference

8.5 +34 will poke slightly up front w/o negative camber from alignment or drop.

If you have seen 8.5" +44, your +34 is 10mm out from that.

FYI

8.5" +34 does not equal 8" +34 or 9" +34, etc.

You can only do "quick math" if the width is the same.
Ie: 8.5 +34 vs 8.5 +44 = 10mm difference

If width changes your numbers comparing do as well.

1" = 25.4 mm (call it 25mm)

8" +34 vs 8.5" +34 is 12.5 mm difference in width
So, 6mm more wheel in, 6mm more wheel out.

8" +34 vs 9"+34 is 25mm difference in width
So, 12.5mm more wheel in, 12.5mm more wheel out

Then of course any mm difference in offset.


Lower offset number, more wheel poke
Higher offset number, less wheel poke

Hey guys, I'm new to this so Im trying to run a 17x9 with 20 offset square setup on a stock suspension (no drop, stock.).
I'm going with 245/40/17 tires on it. I'm just concerned with any rubbing issues if anyone has a similar setup.
Can someone recommend me good tires that doesn't reduce the handling feel of the fr-s with this setup? Thanks!! (I'm a noob at this)

Rims are Moda MD11: 18x8", offset is et42, the centre bore is 72mm I believe (hub centric rings will fit them to any car)
Tires are Westlake SV308s: 225/40R/18 all-seasons

What do you guys think of that? I copied that of the ad.
