It would suck if you start seeing this problem after the warranty runs out. Costly fix that can happen at your next redline.

Well, I was thinking about getting a tune pretty soon here anyway, so I just confirmed with FA20Club.com that their tune does incorporate the DI fix, so I think I'm going to just pull the trigger on that tomorrow.

We don't even know with 100% confidence the root cause of the DI failures. Everyone is just speculating right now.

Subaru is already denying warranty repair on other people's stock cars. I doubt they would honor the warranty with my mods & E85 tune anyway. Regardless, you gotta pay to play. I threw that warranty out the window long ago!

I do have FA20club's updated tune with the "supposed" DI fix. We'll see how it goes.. I live in the 3-5K rpm range mostly as a DD anyway, so I'm not too worried.

And still that suzuki swift with thousands of KM's more than the FR-S had minor issues.

Would 100 octane fuel do anything to eliminate or reduce the detonation / knock described earlier as tip in? If so it would be worth running at the track for the peace of mind.

I beat the crap out of the Suzuki I rented while there.

I've got 37K on mine with a hand full of auto-x events between last season and this one and a track day and have yet to see any issues. I also drive the car hard on certain roads on my way to work.

Auto-X is light abuse as you are not wot for a 30 minute session and therefore cant generate enough heat to melt the seal. I think this issue will develop on auto-x and spirited drive cars later than on full track cars. My car had 4000 track miles when the injector failed and caused a hole in my piston. Im thinking its a simple fix but it all begins with toyobaru admitting something is wrong and offering a flash fix or DI replacement.

My ECU got updated with the newer tweaks, via Ecutek. Replaced the seals too, there was combustion on the injectors. All is running perfectly again.

Well if the problem truly is 'detonation' 100 octane fuel should easily fix it.

Which is why I'm running nothing E85 in my car. Even though I don't track/race my car, it just makes my car run smoother & stronger. Speculative fuel filter degradation be damned.
