I understood it as it happens when RPM is above 5200 "after" the shift. If you rev to red line in 1st gear, it drops to 4500 RPM in 2nd gear. So, to create the condition in 1-2 shift, you will need to rev the 1st gear to 8600 RPM.

Remember, not everybody wants an aftermarket tune. If the car has a defect, the manufacturer should fix it. They have done so in South Africa, at least, we hope so... it will take some time to see if the "fix" is effective and the problems cease.

They are but nobody wants to pay 600+ dollars for an EcuTek tune that's great and all but it really be Toyota/Subaru's job to fix and/or prevent this, not the owner to go buy there own aftermarket tune and also void any future repairs on the ECU where they will just blame it on your other tune.

As of right now sure. But to put it in perspective I know about 15 86 owners in my local area and 4 of them have had the DI collar issue. 1 of them that has had the issue is active on these forums. All 4 of us are 20k Miles + and bought the car either last June/July.
