Would be a great time to install the Rydeen Duo backup camera; run them together... with full instructions on which panels to remove.

Do you guys think this will be compatible with the FR-S? I wonder if this is only compatible with the Subaru head unit..

I would stay away from this Accessory unless they (Subaru-Kicker) have worked out some form of adjustment with it.

I have not reccomended these subs to my customers for years now because they are full on bass or unplugged. With no adjustment between the two.

I have had a few customers purchase these for their Impreza's and be totally turned off by the full-on or nothing bass with no real form of adjustment.

For that price I'd rather get a JL stealth box.

The OEM system also includes new tweeters, and amplifiers for the existing system new DSP tuning and really improves the overall imaging of the existing system, on top of adding low end. I'd be surprised if this sub could add the subtle improvements that the OEM system does.

Anyone getting the OEM 400+ or already have it know how much it is to get it installed?

To me the stock system sounds like crap. Just adding bass is not going to help it much. For all that trouble you may as well go for a full radio after market amp and JL sub woofer. You are looking at twice the price but 5 times better sound quality. The Factory radio is the worst sounding I have experienced in years. Even the cheapest double din that Pioneer makes should far exceed the factory radio's performance. I am waiting for the next line of OS 7 compatible aftermarket radios than the factory system comes out.

Get the stealth box and a real amp.. I mean seriously, it's drawing all the power it needs for the amplifier from the radio??? I didn't see an extra 4 gauge power and ground connection so I'm either missing something or the amp is capable of about 25 watts of power to push a 10" sub.

You get what you pay for...I wouldn't waste $50 on this setup let alone retail.

From the radio harness, not the radio. 100W doesn't require anything remotely resembling 4AWG, it's less than a 10-amp draw assuming class D (which it probably is).

However, you've still got a good point - the radio fuse is 7.5A, so unless the harness is using another power point somewhere, the specs are definitely fudged.

The power source is the same...it's fused prior to the radio at the fuse box. If the fuse for the radio isn't upgraded during the install then its sharing the power that the radio is already pulling from that fuse. So if there's a 15 Amp fuse on the radio and the amp is sharing that fuse too without upgrading then there is no way possible that you will ever see 100 watts from the sub amp.

If they're rating the setup at 100 watts then I would guess its actually putting out 20-30 RMS.

I call shinanigans on this attempt at "premium" or "upgraded" audio by Subaru. They should know better that to offer their enthusiast customers (as most BRZ/FRS owners are) such a fickle and half hearted solution for the so-so audio in these cars...

On a side note - if someone finds out the size of this box, and where to buy it (ie Kicker) you could plug any amp and sub into it you want.... So if anyone out there has an insider at Kicker manufacturing, you should do some poking around. I mean I love JL's stealth box but I find their price has exceeded the brand's true value. I just want a frigging custom box for less than $300 so I can put my RE SEX 10" and alpine amp in my car!
