Not my first MT car. And it wasn't making the sound until after I came back from the trip.

I've had my 6MT FR-S since December 5th and have almost 900 miles on it. Starting this past weekend, when making turns at around 15MPH, there is very audible popping and creaking from the front of the car. I haven't hit anything and there weren't any potholes. Any ideas?

Made me laugh - When I was a young lad back in the 80's, my dad always said just turn the radio up louder and the problem would go away. - I recommend that a strong dose of some AC/DC will fix this problem under the car.

I went out on a meetup drive today in the New England area, and finished up my 1000 mile break in on the way. When I got within 50 miles of my destination, I realized I was getting what sounded like tapping noises from the rear of the car. It sounded like some plastic was loose and was tapping against sheet metal. Sometimes it sounded like rocks pinging the underside of the car when there weren't any on the road.

Throughout the drive I checked a bunch of parts near the metal of the trunk area, and checked to make sure the seats were locked. I couldn't find anything.

The weirdest thing was that I couldn't reliably reproduce the popping/banging noise: it didn't happen on every bump, it didn't happen on every turn, but it would happen at least every 2 minutes when driving normally around 45-60 mph.

I parked near the end of the day, opened the trunk, and used it to get some leverage to compress the rear suspension (figuring I might reproduce it that way). With the parking brake on, the suspension compressed as the car tried to roll forward, and the driver's rear quarter made this horrible creaking sound Now if the car rolls a bit forward after I set the parking brake, it creaks as it settles.

So I think what I was hearing was the random binding/unbinding of some suspension piece in the rear of the car. The rear end has never made this sound before, and I don't think a car with 1300 miles on it should creak when the parking brake is set. Do you think I have enough to go to the dealer with this?

I have heard a noise, when it's cold out, on first start of day, it does it like 2 or 3 times, not moving, fuel enrichment on, rpm 1500. It is definitely a misfire of some sort, NEVER happens when it is warm or while driving. Car has 1300 Miles, 6AT, N1 catback only mod(with silencers in) Will take it to dealer for troubleshooting, Agggrrr... will have to leave it over night.

I've had it too. Only once in my 800km on the odometer. We had snow at the time, I assumed it was ice flying off the right rear wheel, that's what it sounded like. I have no idea what it can be...

Happened to me once when car almost brand new on a cold start...never heard it after (so far). Car at 1,800 km only thought.

I've heard it at least 3 times. Very loud. Thought the windshield got hit with a rock. Never seen any damage. It is startling when it happens.

I've heard it a couple of times myself. I'm usually pretty good about seeing road debris and avoiding it, my eyes focus pretty well on the ground in front of me. The two or three times I've heard it the roads were clear. It didn't sound like it was coming from the seats. It was definitely a noise outside.

I had it happen to me once, it happened when I turned the car in a tight corner going fast, there was no debris. I thought it was the LSD or anti-slip gadget doing its work but now Im second guessing what it really is....

Guys I have about 6000+miles on my BRZ and I just heard this bang noise twice in two days driving.
Over the last two days we've had crazy rain storms and the car was subjected to a lot of water. So I can buy that it may be water hitting the cat heat shield and then the thermal contraction or expansion taking effect.

Have to ask... Have you had anyone getting into the passenger side or perhaps into the back seat through the passenger side? Thats what was causing my noise as the seat would not fully lock and then while going down the road it would finally "pop" into a locked position.
