Happened when i test drove an AT FRS the first time. Actually sounded like backfire (BANG) whenever I stopped. I attributed it to the dealer filling it with Regular Unleaded but wow...

What does "settling" mean? Does that mean the bushings or the metal is/are "clicking together," or "breaking in" (rubber softening)?

In terms of the seat locking: Some seat designs allow the seat to get just a little bit out of alignment. This will allow one side of the seat to lock in place while the other is just slightly out, giving the false impression that the seat is fully locked. It can take quite a bit of force and motion in just the right direction for both sides to finally lock. Perhaps sit in the passenger seat and move around forcing weight in various directions, or if you know what you are looking for just look under the seat to see if it is fully locked, then see if you still hear the noise while driving. Process of elimination type thing.

I've had seats that seemed locked pop/bang 5-10 minutes into a drive and make a loud noise. Kinda scary when the drivers seat does it lol.

I have heard this noise 3 times. the first two i thought it was debris on the road. the third time happened to me while turning out of my parking spot in an underground parking. the front passenger seat has not been adj since i got the car, i highly doubt its the cause of the noise (at least the loud pop/thump noise i got) 130km in 3 days

I heard it the first day...again like road debris...but didn't today...third day of fun tomorrow!
This may be the only time when I've enjoyed having a 70 mile commute

That doesn't mean it wasn't the seat. I'm not saying it definitely was the seat, but just because you didn't adjust the seat doesn't mean it wasn't adjusted at some point.

Yes, there appears to be a thump sound on the passenger side. I heard it twice within a two day period. I have roughy 300 miles on my car so far, hopefully the sound goes away.

I had to quote you because you might have answers to my latest issue. I think it's not worth to make a thread about this but a couple of days ago I went out for a drive with my stereo off for me to listen to some of this pop bang sounds a lot are complaining about. I didn't notice any of those sounds lately but I was able to hear another sound. It seems like the front passenger seat is loose for some reason. I thought at first it was only the seatbelt that made that "something is loose sound" but I figured out that it was the front passenger seat that makes the sound. When I had my friend sit on it though the "ticking or rattling sound" suddenly disappears. It's really weird but I'm pretty confident it's the front passenger seat. Idk if it has something to do with your post. But it reminded me of this issue of mine

Thanks

It seems to be more of a clunk from passenger rear, I am at 400 miles now and able to reproduce it over this one section of road on my commute.

I'll wait for it to go away or someone else to take their car in, don't want techs driving mine ^_^

The new Nagisa rails might solve this issue, guys. They've got their Zero Play design and the D LOCKING feature which prevents movement. When those rails lock, they're locked. No doubt about it.

The sound I am getting is definitely not coming from the seat rails. It sounds to be either the rear suspension or maybe the tools in the trunk bouncing. I haven't had time to take tools out and drive around to see if it makes a difference. Hopefully someone else is having this issue and takes it to the dealer because I can't be without a car ^_^

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but this is the closest thing I found to what I'm experiencing now.

I went out on a meetup drive today in the New England area, and finished up my 1000 mile break in on the way. When I got within 50 miles of my destination, I realized I was getting what sounded like tapping noises from the rear of the car. It sounded like some plastic was loose and was tapping against sheet metal. Sometimes it sounded like rocks pinging the underside of the car when there weren't any on the road.

Throughout the drive I checked a bunch of parts near the metal of the trunk area, and checked to make sure the seats were locked. I couldn't find anything.

The weirdest thing was that I couldn't reliably reproduce the popping/banging noise: it didn't happen on every bump, it didn't happen on every turn, but it would happen at least every 2 minutes when driving normally around 45-60 mph.

I parked near the end of the day, opened the trunk, and used it to get some leverage to compress the rear suspension (figuring I might reproduce it that way). With the parking brake on, the suspension compressed as the car tried to roll forward, and the driver's rear quarter made this horrible creaking sound Now if the car rolls a bit forward after I set the parking brake, it creaks as it settles.

So I think what I was hearing was the random binding/unbinding of some suspension piece in the rear of the car. The rear end has never made this sound before, and I don't think a car with 1300 miles on it should creak when the parking brake is set. Do you think I have enough to go to the dealer with this?

Manual transmission? Your first? Sounds like the noise a parking break makes when you don't quite pull it up enough(car in neutral, not gear).
