Which doesn't even matter, because if the rotor is in static friction your wheel is locked. Once locked, it doesn't matter how hard you're clamping it.

You're talking strictly theory within a narrow scope. The "experts" in this thread are citing actual application.

How many sets of brake pads and tires have you polished off? How much experience do you have? I mean... you do have plastidipped wheels.

I'm definitely not a brake expert. Which means this doesn't really matter, but: I didn't count brake pads but when I sold my WRX it rolled away on its 17th set of tires.

Plastidip protects my stock wheels at autox. And shows people I'm unintelligent, apparently.

Since you're good enough to make judgements on me based on how I paint my wheels I'm surprised you can't figure out how much I drive.

Aside from the ego dump in the last page or so, this thread has actually been hella informative for some of us just getting started in AutoX or HPDE. Appreciate all the theory discussion.

If you can lock up the tires (or hit ABS), upgrading brakes does nothing. The limit is the tires.

If you can't lock up the tires, upgrading the pads/calipers will help shorten stopping distance.

The stock brakes are plenty capable.

2. No one said you couldn't.
