Which doesn't even matter, because if the rotor is in static friction your wheel is locked. Once locked, it doesn't matter how hard you're clamping it.

A lot of math and such in this thread. They work great for me in auto-x so that's all I need!

If I took the tires off my wheels (metal on asphalt) and added 6 piston calipers, my car would stop shorter? Because, basically what you're saying is that tires are irrelevant, even though tires are what connect the car to the road.

Didn't catch it until you pointed it out. LMAO!

I can't believe this thread is still going....

1) Yes, everyone is smarter than me in this thread. Sucks.
2) Even experts ask questions. Why can't I?
3) If no one has noticed, I've given up.
4) If you think asking whether other people are too lazy to swap pads is any indication of level of knowledge, it's no wonder you don't understand the physics.

You're talking strictly theory within a narrow scope. The "experts" in this thread are citing actual application.

How many sets of brake pads and tires have you polished off? How much experience do you have? I mean... you do have plastidipped wheels.

Everyone is an expert on the internet

I'm definitely not a brake expert. Which means this doesn't really matter, but: I didn't count brake pads but when I sold my WRX it rolled away on its 17th set of tires.

Plastidip protects my stock wheels at autox. And shows people I'm unintelligent, apparently.

... bad alignment? I'm not under the impression you drive enough to go through that many tires unless you owned that WRX for a long time

Since you're good enough to make judgements on me based on how I paint my wheels I'm surprised you can't figure out how much I drive.

Aside from the ego dump in the last page or so, this thread has actually been hella informative for some of us just getting started in AutoX or HPDE. Appreciate all the theory discussion.

If you can lock up the tires (or hit ABS), upgrading brakes does nothing. The limit is the tires.

If you can't lock up the tires, upgrading the pads/calipers will help shorten stopping distance.

The stock brakes are plenty capable.

1. No one even said that, just that you were using incorrect data in the formula.
2. No one said you couldn't.
3. Because you understand what we are saying now or because you still believe you are correct?
4. I agree with you here regarding laziness != indication of knowledge.
