Stock brakes too weak?
In the space of 1 week I've seen a couple of accidents (out of 300-400 GT86/BRZs) concerning the braking power in the Philippines.
![]() ![]() Does this follow in other places?

I can easily hit ABS threshold with my brakes, so tires are more of an issue.

I have no issues with my brakes. I've had a couple of "oh shit" moments and the brakes came thru

Same brakes for the WRX, a heavier and faster car (straight line).
Better tires, ss brake lines and better pads should help. Being an "educated" driver will help some more. |

Because Racecar does not = Racedriver.
Only one of the two above is on stock wheels (so presumably tyres) - in 99% of cases in a rear end accident the car behind is at fault, and in the other 1% the car behind is still at fault. If the brakes/tyres whatever wont stop you before you hit the guy in front - leave more room. If you don't know how far that is, leave more room. And.... Having driven in the Philippines I know that leaving room means someone will occupy it - however, my point remains the same. Last edited by Panman; 06-20-2013 at 08:49 AM. Reason: Local knowledge |

Thanks!
I get what you mean guys. I am magnitudes less worried now. Though I have zero competitive racing experience I do have over a dozen years of driving cars more powerful than a BRZ. All the accidents I get involved in has me being stationary. |

Have you ever been to the Philipines? Street signs and rules of traffic are almost optional there lol I remember taking a motorcycle taxi and the guy weaving in and out of traffic on to the side walk.

I didn't like the pedal feel of the stock brakes but the 86 is going to have better stopping power than most vehicles on the road.

Leave more room.
If that is insufficient, drive slower. |

Yea the brakes are not the best tbh, done a few hill runs and sometimes on the down hill def feel i need a bit more brake power... Maybe a nice set of pads will fix this.

Sounds like people going too fast for the conditions... 100% driver error. Leave yourself defensible space.
