Mine have been holding up great since I redid them. First round was black and wayyyy too light. Just because the wheels are black doesn't mean you have enough on. Was a pain in the butt to get off. Much better this time.

So I redid one side with the anthracite and glossifier, and to be honest I am not sure it is worth the extra effort. Note that I did spray it on top of the existing black plastidip coat on one of the 2 wheels, but they both look the same to me. Which is to say, they don't look very different than the black plasti-dipped wheels, only slightly lighter shade and with a more visible grainy texture. Take a look and see if you can tell which side is black and which side is anthracite + glossifier.

answer: the driver side is anthracite+gloss. passenger side is original black.

Darn.... I would have been totally wrong. I'm sorry it didn't turn out as cool as it originally seemed. Thank you so much for posting the pictures though. Kick-ass car regardless and now you have cleaned up wheels!

About 3-4. but in the dipyourcar videos on YouTube they say it will start getting shiny after just 1 or 2 coats. Maybe I'm not spraying it on thick enough but it just never seems to be that glossy.

Was thinking about trying this out myself. Thanks for the pics! I'd definitely want to see what the Pearlizer does to the color.

Just ordered the pearlizer, opted out on the gloss, like it matte better anyways.

Will probably have to wait on applying it till after my summer vacation coming in 1.5 weeks.

So you will have to wait about 3 weeks to see the results, hopefully the white that is on there now holds up good and does not stain too bad. I put wheel-wax on them and it seems to keep them clean, with that and the iron-x i bought it shouldn't be too hard to get them back to white come time for the pearl coat.

Has anyone use Plasti dip glossifier on the stock wheels?? All the pictures I see are of the matte finish. I'm thinking gloss black would look a little nicer but I haven't been able to find a picture on stock FRS/BRZ wheels.

Here are mine from this past weekend.

Materials:
- 2.5 cans of GRAY PlastiDip
- 2 cans of Rust-Oleum Metallic Flat Soft Iron Paint & Primer (Home Depot)
- Flash cards
- Painter's tape (tap-off your stems)
- Patience (start with several light coats, progressively get heavier)

I was going to do Bronze at first, but I dont think it would have came out properly on the rims. Should definitely do a light-toned Plastidip as base if you're going for a dark color, which is why I chose gray. I doubt the colors will shine if you use the base-black Plastidip spray.
