Does anyone know how big the diameter is for the intake? Perrins 3 inch CAI needs a tune. Is this one 3 inch in diameter also? Curious to how this intake is getting more whp than Perrins tuned 3 inch CAI. Where as there non tuned 2.75 inch CAI only got like 3-5 whp.

I see it says 2.75-3 inches what part is 3 inches? Just curious. And what kind of gains can we expect with the silicone hose installed instead of the OEM one? @Mishimoto

Quick question out of curiosity: Does the Mishimoto induction hose have an effect on the AFR in any way?

TBH I would rather get the Perrin induction hose. Its much smoother than the Mishimoto one that looks like another mass produced hose like AVO's or Zetas. I dont see how Mishimotos are any different from theirs. Maybe they have reinforced wiring which I am sure other well known vendors like AVO and Zetas do also. But Perrins is atleast a smooth bend...

Can this intake be used with Perrins silicone hose? Out of all the hoses I would go with Perrins or a Carbon Fiber one like Zeek or Toms. They atleast have a smooth bend. Which may or may not make a difference but I am sure it does as air would travel better than just a 90 degree bend like how avo, zeta n mishimoto's are.

Why do you think the Perrin is any different than the Mishimoto silicone tube? Here's my Mishi:

The Perrin still has a 90 degree bend in it also. The difference is that the Mishimoto gives you the option of using the stock resonator or not whereas the Perrin eliminates it (this is the black box that mounts on the underside of the intake pipe - not the "sound generator").

He thinks it's different because it is different.
It's a much more gradual bend instead of a copy of the stock piece but different material (not saying it's a bad thing).
I don't know what the diameter of the Mishimoto piece is though.

Ok, cool. I've never seen a shot of the Perrin from directly above - all the press shots are from the side and you lose that detail of the larger radiused curve. However, Mishi is not curved as tight as the stocker either.

Also, the resonator opening is pointed out as a disruption to flow but disruption to flow isn't always a bad thing - as evidenced by Mishi's testing where keeping the resonator installed on an otherwise stock engine resulted in a quieter intake and more power.

Does this mean every time you need to change/clean your air filter you have to take off your bumper?

Perrin's big 3 inch CAI says that it requires a tune to use since it affects the AFR's. Isnt this CAI 3 inches also? So how does this not require a tune to use safely?

Their 2.75 inch intake says keeps near stock AFR's whereas their 3 inch says it doesnt.

The pipe diameter isn't what makes it need a modified tune, it's the MAF housing diameter. IIRC, this one uses a stock diameter MAF housing and close to stock MAF location so you don't have to re-scale the MAF in the tune. The Perrin big MAF intake has a larger diameter MAF housing which means you do need to re-scale the MAF.

Maybe. You can however remove the tbar and possibly reach it. I'll have one of these intakes in soon for a project car I've been working on and I'll see if I can remove it without removing the bumper and post pictures of the process if it is possible.

Got my Mishimoto CAI and silicone induction hose installed today. My garage mentioned that I should use additional clamps (that were not supplied with the kit) to make sure the intake pipes stayed fitted (4th picture attached). I was thinking these would be unnecessary, but erred on the side of caution and purchased them anyway.

Biggest benefit? Finally removing the entire noise generator assembly! Engine bay looks much neater now. Car has a much deeper sound as well, compared to previous stock air box with K&N drop-in.

Very clean. I like it. I'm digging the titanium exhaust wrap as well

I'm curious, what oil cooler kit are you using? More specifically, what sandwich plate is that and how do you like it?
