Mounting HID Ballasts?

Hey guys, been toying with the idea to install some HID's but wanted opinions or hopefully testimonials on where and how you have seen the ballasts mounted. All the videos I watch are pretty sketchy installs. Any help would be appreciated

On passenger side, you can mount it on top of the frame bar.

On driver side, you can just mount it where wheel liner meets the body. It's around the abs sensor area. Anywhere flat is fine.

There is a small frame section under but slightly behind each headlight. I used strong double sided tape and mounted them there.

Installed mine under the lights on the frame..
Yeah my other ballast blew now I have 2 different ones also zip tied it down and put a foam under the ballast to absorb vibrations..

On driver side take the windshield funnel out and unclip a harness to have room to work when installing on that side..other side is easy no need to take out stuff just drops in

Yeah I tried it only with tape but came off after a while due to dust/dirt build up after driving it.. So I mounted it with the brackets and zip tied it down because the bracket would just have it like hanging/flopping around..

Yeah maybe I need the heavy duty tape.. Not sure how just alone the tape would do when summer hits.. Tape might unstick due to heat idk.. But mine not going come off for sure

I bought mine in Oct, put the 3M adhesive on and havent had an issue yet. I do check regularly but haven't seen any issues yet. 3M tape is strong!

But of course you don't need to worry about that now.

This look great. How did you find room to work with your hands in there? I couldn't find room to get my hands to do the zip tied !

I stuck mine on the inner side of the fender. Just partially drop the fender liner, and feed the ballast through.

Super clean install.

Thanks.. Do what I did improvise get 2 zip ties connect them together then bend one side like a "U" shape or hook and just loop it under the frame.. The driver side is a bit tricky to get due to the windshield washer container on the bottom.. Just pop out the tube funnel first and the harnesses wire next to it.. Other side is easy

The heavy duty 3m is what holds on a lot of lip spoilers, so I don't think heat is an issue. Also you really need to clean where you applying it with rubbing alcohol before setting it.

Yup clean with alcohol.. The stock double tape came with my ballast are cheap and didn't want to drive/buy aka lazy so I just secured it for sure Lol.. Yeah your right they use heavy duty tape on spoilers .. Looking to get the TRD spoiler and that uses 3M tape..

Will alcohol hurt the clear coat ? Not sure if I will use alcohol when I mount my TRD wing..might use drinking water to clean it..

I've used rubbing alcohol when plasti dipping emblems and I apply it, rub it with water, then dry. Didn't do any damage.
