Can I note- The wiring diagram says 6.3" for OEM doors ;P not that it matters. Also, in the diagram, I'm noting that basically, (off the amp at least,) the front speakers are all wired together, so if I do a 4 CH amp I'm good right? |
Somewhere is a post where someone removed the stock speakers and took pictures of the specs on back. Can anyone find that post and add it to this list? So far I am unsuccessful. :(
|
My stock speakers are somewhere since I have done my install. I can look tonight for them and see if I can get any good information off of them.
|
Thanks. I'm actually happy with the stock system and will just be adding a powered subwoofer. I'm interested to see what frequencies might be best left to the stock system and where I should cross over the sub. I think the stock 6.5 subs actually do decent mid-bass already.
Also if I decide to replace stock speakers, knowing what their specs are will make it easier to buy better ones. |
Custom sound in 86
Hi all
First post on here so i hope it goes into the right place! OK so how about the Australian 86 doesn't have a spare wheel (Bit odd I thought!) but it all made sense when I custom molded a fibreglass sub enclosure into it - including a 700rms JL Audio 5 channel amp with Morel 200rms front splits on custom spacers in the front and a single din Alpine head unit Leads for power and speakers are Stinger and cabled on opposite sides of the car to reduce/eliminate interference Some photos to follow - but sound is incredible and sub though only a 8 inch proves more than enough thump Cheers Scott |

6 pin harness
I've read somewhere in these posts about the unused 6 pin harness behind the stereo. It had constant 12 volt, an accessory 12v, a ground and a couple CAN signals. I can't seem to find the pin out. Anyone remember what thread this was in?
Edit: got the info needed. Pin 3 is 12V switched and pin 2 is ground. Powers an Alpine KPT amp pretty good. |

mounting depth becomes a question for the mids in the corners. Given your goals, and that this is your first aftermarket system I'm guessing, I feel like OEM+ would probably be a very good investment for you. They have a reputation of having quality customer service and will work with you to get the sound you're looking for. also, they handle the tuning which is a massive learning curve. while you pay a little more (and hardly at all) than you might for individual components, the value of their experience at your disposal is probably immeasurable. |
