The US is rumored to be getting the shaft when it comes to a turbo FR-S model, but even if true that doesn’t mean there won’t be forced induction options available for North Americans.
AVO has begun development of a turbocharger for the BRZ / FR-S in a setup similar to the current Subaru Legacy, featuring high boost response via short headers, utilizing the standard air box, and a short path from turbo to intercooler to intake manifold.
The plan is for it to be a regular production kit once completed. See more details and follow the kit’s development inside.

The latest round in the saga of Scion FR-S turbo and convertible rumors has the two variants reportedly confirmed, but if the rest of the report is correct, it’s sad news for U.S. customers.
The report claims that the FR-S turbo and convertible models are indeed coming to market, but not the U.S. market. The purported reason is due to the higher price that each model would have to sell at.
What doesn’t make sense to us about this reasoning however, is that since the U.S. enjoys some of the lowest car pricing available in the world, why would the higher priced turbo and convertible models make sense (price wise) in other markets but not in the U.S.
Again, as with all reports and rumors, take it with a grain of salt until the models are actually released or information comes from the manufacturer.
