I KNOW THERES STILL A DOZEN I HAVE LEFT OUT BUT I'LL CONTINUE TO UPDATE THIS THREAD IF THERES ANY NEW PROBLEM!
I would add this as a "dealer oversight" (not a "problem" - all FR-S's seem to ship with the stereo set to the default setting of "TC" vs. "FR-S". As a result, the stereo sounds terrible, underpowered and like it's not using all eight speakers. All, the front-rear balance is set to 100% front.

I don't have my manual (car's in the shop for the CEL issue) but I seem to recall the setting information is on page 53. May be mistaken, though. So, this one is user-correctable.

QC inspectors probably caught a paint imperfection (crater, dust, etc.) during final inspection and diverted your car off the assembly line for a spot fix. There are standby painters who even out imperfections and manually respray. This is how it was done when I worked at the Toyota NUMMI plant's paint shop. You could complain to the dealer who sold you the car and they'd have a local body shop repaint it or you can insist on a car replacement which would need escalation to the regional/corporate level (similar to what the user Tanuki did regarding a body weld but your case might be more difficult to justify since it's not frame/structure related).

Has anyone experienced this issue?

I have an Automatic, and when gunning the car from either a standstill or from 25-35mph, the engine sounds like it drops and then revs up (not a smooth acceleration up...) I will post a video of this later today or tomorrow... but thought I would throw it up on this forum for any thoughts off the bat.

Did you tighten it? It should twist right on (and twist right off if you want to change it). Or is it loose as in the whole thing seems like it's going to fall apart?

Hmm, sounds like a vacuum issue. I got the idea from this thread who has something similar: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16997

+1 for this too. My stereo was set to the default setting. Thankfully, I already knew about this fix when I got it and fixed it right up.

That sounds similar to something described here:

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16997

I had this happen today.

You can also add fuel pump problems (CEL code P1235) to the list:http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12428

Weirdly enough as well, to get music playing, I have to hit 'volume up' on my iphone..

these are all just quirks, mainly with the headunit I think.
Hey fellow Aussie,

The head unit in my GTS does weird stuff too. If I happen to change music volume when GPS is just about to "say" something it seems to loose my equaliser settings and the sound goes flat. Sometimes it takes 30 minutes for the GPS to find satellites. It plays my iPod on random. When I go into settings to switch to normal play its ok until next time i start the car and its on random again.

Also hate that it always announces school zones, regardles of the time and/or day. And somehow it cant stack warnings after announcements. When its giving directions a red light camera warning will just go straight over the top of the directions. Great way to get lost

And dont you just love you cant make a call while driving unless you (illegally) use your phone to dial?

Definitely some very bad programming and weird decision making in there

>>> END RANT <<<

You say you reboot the head unit, how do you do that? I hope that may fix my random play issue

Thanks,

Paul
