how can I fix the dent on the dome light ?
so I used a flathead screwdriver to force the cover of dome light, and made some dents on each sides,
is there a way to fix it ? or where I can purchase the new one ? with which dome light it is compatible ? It looks very similar to the suzuki swift dome light but I doubt they're the same, Thanks, |

If you choose to order a new dome light assembly, it looks like the part number is Subaru 84621CA000VH. This will replace the entire assembly, including the outer cover, lens, and bulb. I don't think you can buy the outer cover separately from the lens and bulb.
For future reference, here is where I located the part - all of the parts are visible using this online catalog and others like it. https://www.subarupartsdepot.com/oem-subaru-parts.html If you have a Toyota GT86, you may wish to search a comparable online Toyota catalog - they use their own part numbers. For this particular part, I believe the Subaru part is interchangeable. Last edited by theadmiral976; 12-31-2015 at 04:28 AM. Reason: added Toyota information |

Unless the dents are noticeable I would hold off on ordering a new one for now. If you just put a new light in there make sure you like the lights so you don't end up denting the new one if you want to change it again. I made a few marks in my dome light when I changed it to LED since I was using a screwdriver as well but they are so hard to notice on a daily basis
As long as you can live with it I would not order a new one until you go to sell the car so the new cover would only be installed 1 time.

DO NOT USE A SCREWDRIVER ON INTERIOR PARTS. There are actually tools made for the purpose of removing trim without damaging it, and they are even cheaper than a good screwdriver. Go by Harbor Freight and pick up this kit for $8. If you go get it today, there's a 25% off coupon on the HF website good for today (New Year's Day) only.
Trim And Molding Tool Set 5 Pc ![]() Those forked tools are particularly good for popping trim tabs without breaking them. Everyone who ever plans to remove any part of the interior of this car needs a set of these. ETA: Just realized OP is in China. Everything at Harbor Freight is made in China, so you should be able to find this set even cheaper than we get it in the US. Get a set and stop messing up your interior with a screwdriver. |

it is very pricey for this piece of crap, so I just accepted it. ( The 1st January 2016, I watched mirror, I become old and many flaw on my physical body already, so yes, I accept to deal with the dents on the interior of my car.. )
Otherwise I already bought the similar kits for the next occasion, but extrashaky kits looks better. |
