Genuine OEM Oil Filter?
So I have been buying Black Genuine Subaru Oil Filters 15208AA130 ([ame="http://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Subaru-15208AA130-Oil-Filter/dp/B00ESTFGMQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1449254271&sr=8-1&keywords=BRZ+oil+filter"]Amazon.com: Genuine Subaru 15208AA130 Oil Filter: Automotive[/ame])
But I noticed on Amazon Toyota has an oil filter as well by Denso 90915-YZZS1. ([ame="http://www.amazon.com/2013-2015-GENUINE-FILTER-SCION-FR-S/dp/B00KQRAYIU/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1449254271&sr=8-4&keywords=BRZ+oil+filter"]Amazon.com: 2013-2015 GENUINE OIL FILTER SCION FR-S: Automotive[/ame]) ONTOP of this, there seems to be a blue Genuine Subaru oil filter as well 15208AA15A (http://www.rallysportdirect.com/shop...rz-limited-2-0) Are these ALL technically OEM oil filters? Are there any noticable performance differences?

The internet says there is a difference. I have yet to see factual evidence (other than pictures of filter medium construction) that says there is a difference. -alex |

They insist you must use genuine Toyota parts for warranty to be honored. etc. It's details but if you asked Toyota if their filter can be used on a Subaru, the official (and legal) response would be that it is not designed for Subaru BRZs. In reality we all know what works and what doesn't. But for the average person who relies on a dealer for service, it's best that they stick with a part that won't give the dealer grounds (reasonable or otherwise) to deny legit service work. -alex |

You would likely be ok with any of the above options. My FR-S came from the factory with a 15208AA130 on it, and that's what I will use as long as I can get them...

The blue Subaru 15a filter is taller but smaller in diameter and doesn't look like it belongs in the oil filter housing. Besides, I have heard these are very cheaply made filters made by FRAM. I would get either the Toyota filter or the Subaru 130 filter.

Woh, $11 for the Subaru and $9 for a Toyota one?
Dam. Local dealer is $6 for a Subaru and $7 for a Toyota. But like others said, go with a Subaru for a BRZ and Toyota for the FRS, if your worries about dealership warranty.

If you look up the same part, in the Scion Database and the Subaru Database, they should come up as different part numbers. Because legally Toyota and Subaru are two different entities with two "different" cars, with their parts respectively. But I'm pretty sure this car is made up of 100% Subaru parts..I mean it did come out of the Subaru Factory.

Oh, this is funny.
I have an OEM Subaru oil filter in my FR-S, and it's been there when I bought the car. I'd love to see a dealer raise hell over my unapproved oil filter which came stock from the factory. As to the manufacturer of the oil filter, at least for mine, it's Tokyo Roki. |

In most cases, yes. This used to be true for the oil filters as well, but isn't any more. If you can still find the SUU# filter, it will be a Subaru 15208AA130 filter in the box. The new Toyota part number filters are their own.
