TPMS Sensor Reprogramming

Hi all,

I have been using the Carista App (beta version on a Nexus 6) to customize the settings. There is a place for TPMS sensor IDs (under Tools). I have a second set of wheels I purchased off a member here for my winter tires with oem TPMS sensors. They were put on my FR-S but every day the TPMS light comes on.

Last that I heard the TPMS was able to read but not write. That was a few months ago.

However, last night, I gave it a try again (since my Carista adapter came in; Black Friday sale!) on version 3.1-beta. It did let me enter new TPMS sensor IDs. I exited the app and went back in so it will read the sensor IDs. It seems to have saved the new ones! I haven't driven the car since so I cannot confirm if the TPMS light will light up, but I will report back once I do.

If it does work then it's awesome.

Interested in this. Would appreciate it if you give us an update. Main reason why I hate going to aftermarket is the tpms light so if it's easy to program without having to take to a dealer then I'll be set.

I have two sets of wheels, summer and winter. I don't want to dismount and mount the tires every 6 months.

You do need a set of TPMS sensors, its not like you can disable the sensor.

I plan to drive it tomorrow to work, so I will report back.

Cool! Didn't get to read the latest release notes. Just that my adapter arrive and thought I would give it a try.

You can, but the stock are summer tires. Places where there are snow you need to mount different tires.

I got aftermarket wheels but it was really a hassle because I had to put my car on all four jacks, take it to the shop to get the old TPMS sensors off load back up to take them home. Take my new wheels and tires and have them all mounted.

Best you can do is block it out with electric tape like the DIY here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7827

But I like to have it as extra measure. Especially with the dramatic drop in weather changes like we've had here recently. There was actually a line at the gas station to fill the tire, 3 cars in front of me and 4 cars behind me.

So the TPMS light stayed off on the way to work; normally it would light up during my commute, although it was ligher-than-normal traffic today and the car was parked beside the original summer tires in the garage before heading out to work.

I will report back after going home tonight.

Light remained off for the drive home. The sensors are indeed programmed!

That's a pretty sweet deal for the price! I've been using the TPMS Quickset which works great too, but it's ~$150.

@aa_chow

What order/position did you register them? I have the beta app also but the TPMS dashboard blinks then stays solid. I entered the sensors in the order of
1 - Driver front
2 - Pass front
3 - Driver rear
4 - Pass rear

No luck..
