Just laid down my 2nd deposit

for my 2nd FRS!! Just kidding. But I did just put down a deposit at a 2nd dealership. Now I have to go get my money back from the first dealership..
But at least now I'm getting a car within 2 weeks rather than waiting on a probable inter-dealership trade deal to swing the right way that might not even happen soon.

Don't rush to get back your first deposit.
Some dealerships tell you what you want to hear just to get your $.

yes but i'll take my chances. it's my money, i can always retract my deposits.
i was going to get my money back from the first dealership anyway. they get a considerably lower allocation (1 by the end of the month with nothing more for the time being). and they were going to try to trade for one, but whiteouts are flying off the lots and most are pre-ordered.
so.. i decided to do my own calling and hunting, rather than waiting on a trade to fall through. 2nd dealership has a whiteout coming in at the end of the month (1st week of july-ish). so i jumped on it. hope it works out well rather than me getting worked by them.

What color are you hoping for? (assuming 6MT, right?)

i've been looking out for a White in either transmissions. The car coming in is a 6AT, but I'll make the small sacrifice. There are two 6MT white FRS coming to the northwest, but those are presold as with most if not all White 6MT before them. Figured if I wanted a whiteout, I'd better jump on this one before it flies off the lot. I've passed up a few on-the-lot FRS simply due to color preference.

White really is the best looking color on this car, I think. Good choice, hopefully you can dig up a 6MT, but paddle shifters are still fun.

Test drive it before you commit. Make sure you actually try using the paddle shifters, and try downshifting while cornering.

I test drove a DGM BRZ AT up in Vancouver and I didn't like it. They aren't big enough (as in percent of the wheel they cover), so if you move your hands while turning (which you will) they aren't where you want them to be.

Loved the rest of the car though

thanks for the input. i just went and got my first deposit back. they were totally fine with it. i'm pretty sure it was a lot of weight lifted off of their shoulders, cause now they won't have to deal with a customer who probably would have not gotten his car in the time initially discussed.

Hah, my deposit receipt says delivery "around 4/20/2012"

That ship has sailed :P Now I get to play the "xx dealership just called to tell me they have 4 BRZ's coming in around 7/1, can you drop the price to MSRP instead of MSRP + destination+fees to make it worth waiting for you" card

Went and signed my contract today. Got the VIN as well. My car is sitting at the Port of Portland. Expected to be delivered within the next week or two, since Wednesday is a holiday.

No, it's the white A/T. The M/T was sold. But it's okay I'm fine either way.
