Recommendations for a 300-400g shift knob?
I had the Slammer (which is 635g) and loved the fluidity of every shift but found that I also enjoyed the feedback of the stock 189g shift knob. I'm looking to trying something in between to see if there's a "best of both worlds" scenario.
The only one I've seen that's 300-400g is the STI shift knob (https://www.japanparts.com/parts/detail/42492) which is about 290g. |

Why is the Moddiction FS thread closed and posts are made unreadable? http://www.ft86club.com/forums/forum...er=desc&page=2
Found their stainless steel ball shift knob that weights 350g (http://shop.moddiction.com/Moddictio...knob-001RL.htm), which is lesser than WC Lathewerks 465g version and was hoping to read some reviews in that thread |

@tracerit I have the anvil in gray and I am happy with it. I am glad I did not overpay 100+ like many people do. It is counter sunk and lowers the knob about 1inch and has clearance for the reverse lock out. It fits perfectly with no gaps. The finish did wear down very slightly from a rough finish(sand paper like) to just a semi rough finish. And where the palm area where I touch the finish is starting to smooth out and turn black. This wear is from about 10k+ miles and 10months of driving. Even with the wear I am totally happy with it and would buy from them again(I am looking at the anvil 2).

I have the Moddiction Anvil 2 titanium and I love it. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for the MSRP, but if you can find it cheaper used then definitely get it. I got mine for $60 used a few years ago. I had it on my MR2 and I was surprised that it actually fit the BRZ with no problems with the reverse lockout.

Your mention fo the finish wearing out is worrisome though. I was looking to get the black wrinkle finish but now may just go with the stainless steel if I do choose it. Quote:

I use the Anvil 2. I just shimmed it until it didn't interfere with the lockout. I really like it. Black wrinkle finish.

When did you buy yours? I bought one earlier th is year and it just came with the knob and Moddiction said to just find a rubber stopper or something to elevate it. I wonder if they made some changes.
Unfortunately the 20mm opening for the reverse lockout won't acccommodate the Raceseng lockout measured about ~22mm. I did ask Moddiction if they can make an Anvil 2 with a larger opening but from the pics I've seen, it looks like it's as wide as it can get. |

lol. Y'all have more patience than I do. I just started tearing strips out of a chinese takeout menu and wedging it in there until I found enough menu to lift the knob a sufficient height.

what I'm surprised about is that they changed the design somewhere down the line so that it no longer fits the 86 correctly. I originally bought it for my Toyota, but it has the same thread as Subaru so there is no reason why it won't work. unless I got a "special" one? lol I have no idea

OEM Sti Knob (leather on top with aluminium center/base) is nice , It retains lots feel while adds weight to the knob for better shift.
Just saw op includes it in first post. ![]() Let me tell you you wont regret it, it's sensitive like stock yet comfy. |

Yup that's the knob i'm gonna get after I rule out the rest of the competition. How does it allow for correct alignment of the pattern?
