How close is too close?: Gap between tire & spring perch
I installed SPC camber bolts to the front struts and I just now noticed there is only .125" of clearance between the spring perch on the stock struts and the sidewall of the tire. I haven't noticed any rubbing, but I also haven't done as much hard cornering yet either.
I have a track event on Saturday and was wondering if this may be an issue? Plan is to go from 225 width PSS to 215 PSS in the near future, which I imagine should help a little, but just wanted some more input. |

Any pics? That will help out.

I personally would not risk it. I would buy a pair of spacers and have them ready just in case. 10 bucks on spacers is much cheaper than a track day.
What wheel/tire/suspension are you on? |

Surprising to hear you have so little clearance. I'm using whiteline (rebranded SPC) bolts up front with -1.5 degrees camber. 235 width tires, +42 offset wheels. Have around 8-9 mm free.
With only 3 mm clearance, I agree with swarb to get a set of spacers. Not worth risking the track day or your safety IMO. There's got to be some thermal expansion as the tire heats up on track.

Get a 3mm spacer. If you can't find it locally, we can get it for you.

This must be on stock (or other higher offset) wheels. I've got -2* up front (whiteline bolts and slotted upper strut holes) and have at least enough space that it's not rubbing under any circumstances, it's definitely close though. 17x8 +45 with 225/45's. I've had ZII's and RS3's and neither rubbed. AD08R's go on in the next couple days, not expecting they'll rub either.

The problem is because of my wheel offset more than anything else.
They are SSR Competitions 17x7.5, +50 offset. Suspension is stock springs/struts with SPC camber bolts and HVT camber plates. Tires are PSS 225/45/17. I'll be looking for a 3mm spacer. |

Only spacers I've seen up here at prices even remotely close to that look like cheap metal that might squish under normal torque, and have poor finishes. Can't even blame it on the Canadian dollar, last time I looked locally was before the dollar tanked.

This is best I could find on short notice. Are these going to be sketchy to run long term? Debating using these for now and getting better ones on order.

I've been running a wheel and tire combo that gives me only 2mm clearance upfront for 3 years now and have never seen any sign of rubbing. Watch it for signs off rubbing, but I bet you'll be fine.
