Diode Dynamic XML2 Yellow Foglights

I've made several purchases from Diode Dynamics to spruce up the lighting of my BRZ. I initially purchased and installed some license plate bulbs, dome lights and courtesy door lights and was very satisfied with the light output/quality of their products.

I had also wanted to replace the stock fog light bulbs with the XML2 yellows, but they were out of stock until recently. I ordered myself a pair and installed them today. However, I'd have to say, I am a bit disappointed at these bulbs this time around. First of all, it seems the socket for the bulb is slightly off. One of the tabs is placed on the wrong side. Now initially I thought, maybe there's a driver side and a passenger side... but no, they were both the same. In the picture below, the left side is Diode Dynamic's XML2 bulb and the right side is the stock bulb. I had to install it upside down because of a tab that seems to be placed on the wrong side (left side on the XML2, and right side on the stock bulbs). And because I installed it upside down, the locking tab that you push down to remove/lock the bulb is no longer locking onto anything. However, the fitment is tight enough so that I don't think I need a plastic tab to secure the connection. Not that big of an issue I guess.

What I really didn't like was the color of the bulb. I was expecting a deep golden yellow color, but these led's have a very evident lime hue. Now I'm not sure if all yellow LED's are slightly green or if I had received a faulty pair. Is anyone else also running these fog lights? Are they as green as mine?

Good thing is, these LED fog lights are very bright. In retrospect, I think I should've just stuck with a pair of 5k's to match the headlights. Maybe I'll check with Diode Dynamics to see if I can swap for a pair of 5k's. They had provided excellent customer service in the past.

That doesn't look right, if Diode Dynamics are advertising them as "yellow"??

I'm running 3000K and these are how mines look. These aren't Diode Dynamics, but just showing you the "yellow" color.

Hmm interesting. That's the yellow I was aiming for... Are your's LEDs? Where'd you get them? Maybe I received a pair of bad ones I'll call them tomorrow and see if they can sort this out.

They're probably not using true yellow LEDs (at least not at a wavelength you expect) but are using blue with a filter. Never know though unless you talk to them.

So I just gave them a call and was told that their yellow XML2 bulbs do indeed have a hint of light green and it was not a defect... not the color I was looking for. However, they allowed me to exchange for a pair of 5k's (if I can't get yellow, pure white would be my second choice) and they will ship out to me today with a return shipping label. Pretty awesome service.

Just a heads up for you folks who are planning to buy these yellow fogs - they are not a true golden yellow.

^ That's misleading of them, if they advertise as "yellow" but in reality, it contains a hint of green. That wouldn't be be considered "yellow" anymore.

Mines are led fog lights. Pure golden yellow. My friend sells them locally where I live.
