America's Tire Damaged My Wheels.

I know a lot of you guys on here have some experience with this or have known people with similar issues and hopefully you guys can help me out. Sorry if it seems like I'm ranting, I'm pretty pissed off.

I'll start from the very beginning with the first issue. Order some MPSS tires from them and actually got hooked up with a good deal. Thought everything was going good until they called me and said that they were ready for pick up. I then went in to go have them mounted on my TE37s. Talked to the rep and he said to wait a second while he confirms they have the tires. He then returns saying they sold the same set I paid for and had ordered to another customer in the morning... I am like okay great... I was understanding and said when can I get the next set ordered and if there was some compensation they can do for time wasted. I mean not only did I waste time, I had to cancel all my other appointments the same week for my car like a coilover install. He told me that when I came back to pick up the set that we can discuss the comp.

Came back a week after to get the tires mounted and they tried ****ing me around saying I need to buy a new TPMS kit. He said they're 60 a corner and he would do them for 40. I asked if there was something better he can do for the previous inconvenience, he then said "I shouldn't even be doing anything for you." The nerve... Anyways I fork up the money and pay the dude. I came back two hours later to pick up my wheels (its after hours by now.) The guy then loads the wheels into the car while saying that I had nice wheels and that they had two managers over watching to make sure they don't get scratched. Then I thought to myself, okay cool nothing to worry about right? I got home and had the wheels setup to take pictures then I noticed significant scratches on all the wheels. I don't understand how they can scratch them so bad...

tldr; they sold my original set I paid for to another customer the same day I came to pick them up, which they never comped me for. They then damaged my wheels when installing the tires.

Anyways like I said sorry for ranting/rambling. I am just beyond frustrated. Any idea what I need to do to get this stuff fixed?

The scuffs on the face you can probably buff out.
The paint chips you cant do much except ask Rays/Makin industries to send you some touch up paint. The center cap would cover the center.

If you want to make a complaint, do it asap and don't mount them. It is kind of late once you left the shop, but you can still try. Talk to a general manager or a real manager, not some random assistant manager guy. They should have insurance for these type of things.
For a 4k setup, I would raise hell. Wheels are brand new... or were.

Didn't know you can get center caps for the SL. Anyways this is beyond unacceptable. It is pretty blatant that this was caused at there shop. What should I say if they try to pull a fast one? Which I know they will. Probably like, you took them home, this wasnt done here. etc.

Take it back to them immediately or give them a call. I used to work for them back in high school and at least at my shop we'd have those fixed for you in no time. I had a buddy who had his wheel chipped and they sent a professional repair guy to his house to fix the wheel. It sucks that it happened but they should take care of it. If they don't call another store in the area or reach out to their regional manager or the help line. Someone there should get you taken care of.

what everyone else said. these wheels are NOT cheap and they are liable. period.

you gave them to them in perfect condition and got back a subpar product. at this point they will probably say they gave them to you in perfect condition and it will be your word against theirs. are you sure the face couldn't have scratched across something in the car? not saying you did it, but i'm just saying...i wouldn't even put them on your car yet though just so they can't say shit to you, call corporate right away and bypass them if possible.

how on earth they can scratch the face like that is beyond me. what part of the machine would even touch that. the center area is scratched from them tightening the balancer too much probably but that will buff out.

spoke on the other had...either get cash for a new wheel, or have them order a new one. now you know to trust NO ONE and inspect the goods before you accept tender. the law is on your side here though, so don't be afraid to ring them out about it.

Impossible to happen in the car. Nothing were touching the faces.

Sucks for me since I am having my coilovers installed Monday and Speed Element wanted the wheels on during install for ride height adjust...

Which Americas Tire shop? My local shop has done my wheels/tires for years and theyve been pretty darn good.

damn, that sucks. the America's Tire shop near me is awesome even though they're extremely busy. most of the workers there appreciate cars so they are careful most of the time. and if they do screw up, they admit it and fix it for you. really nice people.

however, the America's Tire near my old house had changed managers and it just went downhill fast. the manager pulled in his friends to work there and a bunch of people in there are just shady people. I went there 3 times to get them to rebalance a wheel on a car due to the shaking at 80 MPH. They told me it was the tire after the failed 2nd attempt, so I bought a new set and still the same thing happened. after I went in again on the 3rd attempt for balancing, they told me the manager balanced my wheels personally and he rode with me in the car to test it. it was shaking slightly but he just said it was the road (the highway was pretty crappy paving). took the car out of town and drove on a nice strip of road and the shake was insane. then I took it to another shop and they told me the wheels were improperly balanced by like 5 grams or something like that. never went back to the old one ever again. I guess it's either a hit or miss for these shops.

You need to go back ASAP.

DO NOT put the wheels/tires on your car.

If the manager is not willing to do anything, just stay calm, and have an attorney write a demand letter.

I'm really puzzled as to why you brought such nice wheels to a chain tire store, when there is at least one great shop right down the street that specializes in motorsports and will know what they're dealing with and take proper care of these wheels. You said you got a deal on the tires, but you didn't have to get them mounted there.

Plus it sounds like you had various problems with them trying to up sell you on services and selling the tires you ordered to someone else. Just walk away at that point. It's not worth saving a few bucks to deal with a shitty shop, especially when you've paid whatever grand for those wheels.

Back a few years ago, my fairly new Nissan had it's first tire rotation at the Nissan Dealer. I went home and discovered like three hours later that all 4 of my rims are chipped. I call up my service advisor and they said "Bring it in and we'll see what we can do".

So I drive like 30 miles to the dealer and they agreed it was their fault since this was the first time the rims were ever off the car.

They bring in a brand new 2012 Nissan and take the rims off that and mount my tires on the rim.

They washed the new rims and my SA wiped it down for me. He noticed a knick on the new rim and said "Im guessing you won't be satisfied with that nick" "Nope".

That was the last car on the lot with those rims on the lot and told me to come back another day.

The next time I was free I came back and they had new rims waiting for me. This time they covered my rim in plastic wrap and mounted it and taped the edges of the rim and put the lug nuts on my hand.

For my trouble, they gave me 2 free oil changes.

On the way leaving, I get a tire bubble -facepalm- I go back to the dealer and said they didn't have that tire in stock and would need to special order. They would only charge me for the tire and not the install.

I went to Americas Tire in Pasadena since they had my tire. They replaced my single busted tire and while they did that, they chipped my rim, at the time it was 5 PM and they were closing shop. I asked to speak to a manager and they said he's gone for the day. I made them sign on my paper work "We accidentally scratched rims".

Fast forward a few days, I speak to the manager and show him the rims. He said "that's normal wear and tear, but since these rims are new (I had paper work from Nissan dealer that they chipped rims and replaced) we'll do this on good faith".

They order from this place that specializes in remanufactured rims and the manager said it came out unacceptable. He then asked me where I got my rims from, so I send him my SA information. He orders 2 brand new rims from Nissan and mounts them BY HAND.

To this day, I only get my rims removed by hand with a breaker bar and I still go back to the Americas Tire. But I make sure to get a walkaround with the tech to show them the rim has no scratches/chips/curb rash.

To be quite frank, the service provided was completely unacceptable. People keep arguing the fact that I didn't go to a different place. Its not like I went to a shady mechanic down the street. I went to a reputable tire shop that deals with high end vehicles. Regardless the wheels shouldn't have been damaged, period
