Deepest catback you've heard -- but with an uncatted uel header
Hi guys. Was wondering to get some opinions of those who have heard exhaust systems in person or otherwise with aftermarket catbacks paired with uncatted headers.
I recently added a JDL uel and nameless fp/op with my existing borla catback. Instead of being deep as it was originally, things get a bit raspy. I'm looking for a catback that might make things less raspy / buzzy and deeper. The borla catback has a muffler but thats it -- no resonator. The dezod catback sounds nice when paired with the JDL uel from two videos on youtube, but I was wondering if anyone else had suggestions or input. Thanks! |

IMO, the best combo for good sound/power would be a catless header, catted front pipe, and a catback with resonator. the resonator makes a big difference. my current exhaust, the MXP, is pretty deep and does not get raspy at all. though, I just have the catback and nothing else.

Perrin 2.5 Resonated or Q300 are your best choices. Everything else will be somewhat raspy, from what I've seen.

I Nvidia N1 is deeper than a Q300 and the Perrin. I've owned all 3. The canister designs are the deepest.

thanks for all your input guys, i appreciate it. not sure what I'm going to do. N1 is an option. tomei 80 sounds nice but i dont like the single exit, not symetrical with that empty cut out and all :P

My setup:
Tomei UEL/OP -> CNT 2.5'' HFC Front Pipe -> Perrin 2.5'' Res. Cat-Back While it sounds GREAT, it's not as deep as I would like. With that being said however, there is virtually ZERO drone, it's a pleasant sound level inside the car. You can hear it, but not to the point where it is annoying.

+1 for Tomei 80 and the Invidia N1. I helped with installing the N1 with a Borla UEL this weekend, and it sounded great no rasp with the stock FP.

![]() Tomei and N1 also have a horrid not-so-low component to their note... I should have something to record some day soon, sure hope it captures some deepness without the harshness but... We'll see. |
