general question

Quick question,

Ive been driving my brz in a manner that some would considered semi hard since Ive purchased it. Never red lined it, but I've pushed it here and there.

I've been getting shit gas mileage. 250 miles to a tank when I drive it like I want to. 290 when I'm trying to be mindful of mileage.

Question: If I disconnect the battery to reset the ECU, and drive like grandma for a week or two, will I see better gas mileage?

TIA

No you won't. When you push it you use more gas, that's just how it is. I usually get around 235-260 a tank, but I drive like an asshat. If I'm road tripping and doing a constant speed on the interstate, I get 300 in the same amount of gas.

more city than highway... 3/4 city 1/4 highway... I left a v8 because i wanted better gas mileage. Im probably getting better mileage, but still filling up and spending the same amount of money on a fill up per week if i drive like an asshat.

Your gas mileage is completely in line with what this car is supposed to get.

the mileage may also vary dependent on how much you put back into it. if filled when light comes on, im about 250-275 dependent how much highway replaces city. straight highway trips ill get north of 300 easily.

I get about 250-280 miles a tank depending on how I drive as well... actually a little bit less now because of some of the mods...

I drive my car "hard" and get 30 MPG on 91 gas at 1 mile high.
Thats 390 miles per tank.....

And you cant hurt this car by "redlining" it.
It has a fuel cut before you can cause damage (unless you have a tune that raised the fuel cut)
If you miss a shift and mechanically redline it that is a different story

Again, with mostly city driving your gas mileage is completely in line with what this car is supposed to get.

The more aggressive you are the worse your mileage will be. At the track this car gets less than 7MPG.

I always see people posting high mpg figures and wonder how easy are you taking it all the time to be getting 30+mpg...

I'm averaging about ~26mpg lol. Lot of stop and go and quick highway trips to work in the morning with 1 or 2 longer highway trips per week.

I would wager that he doesn't put his foot as far down as you do, though. WOT burns through a lot of gas. If you want better mileage, the only real method is to drive the car more sedately.

And don't put wider/stickier tires on it, if mpg is your goal. The additional rolling resistance knocks a couple mpg off as well.

My BRZ (completely stock) got an average of about 35MPG going up to Mammoth and back in the summer of 2013. Averaged 32-33 from LA to Jackson WY and back.

All depends on how you drive and whether you aggressively accelerate.
