It reads like this is the platform for the future line of Toyota driving appliances. Hopefully, some of the other platforms they retain will still contain some driving excitement.

Well if it let's them consolidate the appliances to a couple platforms, that frees up resources for dedicated performance cars!

That only the new FWD platform. Lexus LS will debut the new RWD platform, the the sports car platform is the one developed with BMW.

It says in the article that it's for both FWD and RWD.
