what is this metal piece

---Resolved, not from my car, thanks!---

So I found something in the driveway today where I normally park my car. I don't know if it came off my car or something else, but I do not recognize it.
Any ideas?

I don't think it came from the car.

I think it's something you hammer in a 2x4 to thread a bolt without a nut.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Yep. That's called a "t nut" or "t-nut" or "tee nut."

It is a threaded nut that would normally be pressure-fit typically onto sheet metal and possibly plastic materials. It appears, however, that it has not been used since the flanges have not been formed that would retain the fastener to the parent material.

Yup, it's a T nut. Lots of them in the playfields I have rebuilt on pinball machines.
