Question Possible to keep rear lights on with DRL?

Hi guys,

I have a EU spec GT86, which came with DRL and xenon headlights.
As it is right now, when the light switch is on auto, in daylight the xenon is off and only the DRL LEDs are on, but the rear LEDs also turn off.

Is it possible to get the rear LEDs to stay on in daylight also? I'm asking because because it's going to be required by law starting January 1st 2016, and my guess is that Toyota either say it's not possible, so I'll just have to drive with the lights fully on all the time, or it's very difficult to change and request a lot of money for it. I haven't talked to them about yet though.

Would a simple re-wiring at the fusebox do the trick?

Thanks!

Casper

The tailights and DRL are both controlled by the main body ecu. It has a ground output for each relay. You would have to wire it so the drl output is turning on both relays.

Okay, so does that mean it's not as easy as just rewiring a cable or two in the fuse box below the steering wheel?
