F'd up turn of events with my BRZ

So I'm going to make this a bullet point flow of what happened to my BRZ after selling it to a buyer in Florida (buyer on this forum, 86 enthusiast).

1. Sale is made, price negotiated, finances check out, good to go.

2. I detail the car, get it re-aligned and raise the rise height so easier to transport.

Last condition of the Vehicle before getting transported:

Full Detail inside/Out

3. We do the farewell ride on Saturday, and Sunday night I drop it off at PRE.
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80795

4. Transport dispatch comes Monday to PRE to pick up car. Jason at PRE documents/helps load the car up, pre-inspection before the car goes in the truck.

5. Mid-Transport, office calls the buyer that car is not starting and oil is everywhere.

6. Car arrives on Friday 1/30 (today) to the buyer, and oil everywhere with chunks of the motor broken, here are the pics he took at the time of arrival of the vehicle:

7. Transport contacts buyer, and I call the transport company regarding this issue. They are not denying that this happened during their transport since the record shows that the car was in operating condition at pick-up.

8. Buyer will need to get an estimate of what the damage will be (new motor most likely) and TC kit. Then transport company insurance should take care of it.

My guess:
Mid-transport, car was abused/joy ride, kaboom and no one is going to take the blame for it. The transport company has good reviews so not sure if this is a fluke incident or not.

I have full support of PRE backing up claims of the cars condition before it was transported.

Makes me very sad that I took care of this car, and built it up to my standards, then some dipshit decides to destroy it. Some people fucking suck.

WOW...so some dumb**** takes it on a joyride - curb rashes the wheels, blows the engine and goes about his business to deliver it?

If I was the owner of the transport company I'd make the dipshit that did it pay for it, not the insurance company...

You know the transport company knows who drove the truck! You know the driver either drove the car or was reving the car. Sad thing is it could have happened to the buyer after they got it then they would have tried to sue you for selling them a bad motor. Just be glad it happened to the transport company and their insurance will give him a check.

Why would they even need to start the car mid transport to discover that it wouldn't start? Someone definitely F'd up and now the buyer gets one hell of a headache. Hope it all works out smoothly for everyone.

Was the odometer documented at the time of transport? Seems like a simple thing to check. Any chance they damaged an oil cooler or oil lines when loading it for transport then when they fired it up with no oil it quickly decided to window your block?

I had a similar experience. As long as you have the documents and proof that the car was fine when loading it on the truck, the liability will be on the transporting company. It's even better if you have numerous pictures of the vehicle when it is loaded on to the transport.

When a transporter picks up your vehicle it is loaded on. When they pick up other vehicles your vehicle has to be moved. This is where the problem may have arised. When they moved it they most likely took it for a joy ride.

only way to damage the oil line or cooler will be to completely smash in the front bumper or open the hood and cut the line. My cooler is behind the fog light area driver side.

I first assumed it will be a under side damage but we have a pretty beefy skid plate to get to the oil pan.

Someone took it for a joyride and pulled the old $$ shift. (missed a downshift).

You cannot overrev this engine unless the tune was modified to raise the rev limit.
So they had to be driving it when it happened.
