Improve throttle response
Picked up my GT86 today and enjoying it already, but one thing I'm not too keen on is the feel of the throttle. It seems to be a little slow to react, both when getting on the throttle and when coming off it.
Just to clarify, I'm not talking about the actual acceleration or power itself - I just mean when I press the throttle pedal there seems to be little delay before it feels like the car is actually trying to do anything and likewise when I come off the throttle it feels like it carries on for a split second. Just makes it feel a bit sloppy and slow to react. Is there anything at all I can do to improve this (don't mind spending money) ? Cheers Chris EDIT: For anyone else with the same issue, I installed these bushing inserts on the rear cross member and that helped a lot: http://www.whiteline.com.au/product_...DT922&sq=14657 Last edited by ChrisD; 08-24-2015 at 07:10 PM. |

Only way to fix it is with a tune.
The OFT does a very good job of improving the throttle response. |

First car with a throttle by wire? You get used to it (it also improves slightly over the first few hundred miles), but it still sucks compared to cable throttles.

Nah I've had plenty of fly by wire throttle cars before and yeah I'm used to that, but this just feels more noticeable than any others especially when getting off the throttle.

Also consider break in period. My car got a lot better after the initial break in period.

If you literally just picked it up the ECU may be still learning and adjusting. I know after a tune or reset the throttle response feels horrible for the first few drives.

Nah it isn't brand new - it has 7000 miles on it. I'll see what it's like after it has been remapped

Haven't tried it on the twins yet, but many new cars will reset the computer to stock and force a re-learning situation if you disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. Then the computer would learn your driving habits and should adapt.
As others have said OFT would improve this as well.

Tunes are about $500 and more power. But for $200, and no power addition, you can get the AVO throttle enhancer. That's probably exactly what you're looking for.

It's miserable IMO. Runs like a Geo Prism for 50 miles. Guess that's not the OP's problem though.

I'm sorry, but ignore everything else in this thread and get a K&N air filter. Problem solved.
