Hey guys,
I want to buy TRD Mechanical 2WAY LSD (or Cusco 1.5/2W RS) or OS Giken with compatible FD 4.88, but I have trouble to get responses from vendors. They either do not respond at all or respond with some nonsence. I asked CSG on this forum to build diff for me (with carrier and FD and their magic setup inside) at December, I had to urge them on 30th and sent them again my address and again received no response. I asked autofactory.jp about their FD 4.88, how much would it be to gear itself, how much for gear & diff and how much for diff with gear already mounted. Their responded with paypal invoice for 97000Y. I asked them about other prices (cause I assume these was just for gear alone) and never hear back (its been 2 weeks now). I asked my vendor in NL/UK for price of these two items, no response there either, altho I spend there more than 2000 EUR. I have these problem with him before, but then he appologized and I believed it was one time thing. He is online everyday I check. I didnt asked fensport.co.uk yet, they are not the cheapest and I can get all these items cheaper from japanparts.com. I asked japanparts about compatibility of their 4.88 FD (Japanparts No : 442-002-041-2) with TRD LSD (Japanparts No : 043-314-037) and dont get response yet (it was yesterday, so I will wait few more days). Yesterday I wrote mail to Weir Performance that I want to buy their FD 4.88 if it would be compatible with TRD LSD and about shipping costs here, but no response there either. I am not angry with them, I accept fact that I could wait few days and I will. Month ago I asked nearby dealer which also build a sport version of GT86 (and many others) about price of labour if I get him the parts. No response there. I also asked local diff specialist about pricing of the swap (labour), he advertised responses in 24h. Guess what happens... So nobody want to do business these days or it is my fault?

Copy Pasting the PM. Perhaps the PM did not go through.
Shipping for the LSD is $820, fully insured. The LSD core and assembly will be performed here. Will you be supplying us with a core, or did you want us to purchase a new pumpkin from a dealership? -Mike *edit* The shipping price is assuming a complete differential assembly, insured for $3000. |

I think maybe there is a lack of understanding in what you want done.
We can sell you the LSD core. We can perform the assembly. The question is, are you going to be supplying us with your stock differential housing, or are we getting EVERYTHING new, and assembling, so that it is a drop-in unit when it gets to you? We really have no idea what you want... -Mike |

Ok Mike, thanks for the reply.
I may have been unclear and you may not understand me. First message I wrote you on Dec 16th was: Hi Mike, I would like to ask you about LSD... I have stock GT86 and I want something with more feedback for DD, I am thinking about Cusco 1.5 RS or OS Giken (I dont my slightly higher initial costs in exchange for more reliability, added features or lower maintanance). I also want FD 5.125 or 4.875 (I am not decided yet, maybe need some advice). I have MT, 90% drives in the city, Kartboy on the way. My drive style is more like trafficlight hooligan (full throttle, brake, full, brake...). I will have Ecutek racerom features (autoblip, full throttle shift...) this week (might be relevant). I dont mind shifting, I just hope that gearbox will last (changing oil today at 20000km - Millers CRX 75w90 NT - is this suitable also for Cusco RS LSD?). Are you able to send me (to Czech republic) finished LSD with FD mounted and for how much (inc. shipping)? Thanks, Jan. I make the last sentence bold in this post. For me it was clear but let this be my fault. But you cant argue that my shipping address slipped twice so I have to wrote you and demand reply multiple times. I am thankful that you finally get me quote today for new diff, but paying over $4000 for it and top it with 15% customs fee and 21% is ridiculous. I will certainly not buy anything from you. I am very sorry about this. YMMV |

I apologize that we are unable to earn your business.
A new differential from Subaru/Scion is over $4000 by itself, in addition to the Cusco/OSG LSD core itself and the assembly labor. We understand that this is not a cheap venture, especially when you are located overseas, and also have to pay duties and shipping in addition to the parts themselves, and are looking for a plug-and-play solution. To put things in perspective, if you were local to us and were able to drop the car off for installation, the *total* cost would be less than 25% of that of your request, since we can re-use your differential housing, and also return the stock differential core to you. |
