Invidia N1 interference with Driveshaft Shop aluminum shaft.

Just a heads up to those looking to upgrade to this specific combination. There's like an 1/8" gap between the resonator of the cat-back and the shaft. Under high RPM engine braking, I suspect the center section is dipping down and making contact with the exhaust. That is the only time contact is made and causes a very worrying noise. When I installed these both at the same time last month, the suspension was at full droop and interference didn't even cross my mind as a possible issue.

I plan on upgrading center section bushings as I think that would remedy this issue by limiting the movement the center section makes. Will post update whenever I get around to doing that this winter.

This is why I pause to pull the trigger on it. I really dont want to pay double for cf one. Someone in this forum suggested to hammer the resonator to make dent or dimple, but Im afraid I may damage it.

While I had the exhaust out, I went ahead and put a ding on the resonator with a hammer just for a warm and fuzzy although I honestly dont think I needed to. Problem solved, no more rattles. Dont be afraid to take a hammer to it. You aren't going to damage it, its pretty thick gauge stainless. I took a small torch with a rosebud tip and put a dime size cherry hotspot on the corner of the resonator that was making contact and gave it one solid tap from a ball peen. Cleaned up the discoloration with green scotchbrite and bolted it back in. Like I said, It probably didnt need to be clearanced, but Im OCD.

The aluminum driveshaft is AWESOME. Cant see the value in the carbon shaft though.

I'm about to order aluminum shaft. By any chance do you have a picture of the dent you made on midpipe?

I do not, was in a hurry due to losing daylight. I recommend installing aluminum shaft and bolting exhaust back in hand tight. Take a sharpie and mark the spot that is clocked closest to the shaft and remove for modification. Still, I dont think you will need to do this if you just install those bushings.

Just for reference. This is all the bigger you need to make it. It doesnt even have to be "dented in". just make it flat.

Update: I just finished installing it last weekend & for some reason, the gap between shaft & resonator is about 1/2 inch. My fingers could pass through the gap. I guess my catback is skewed little more to driver side than others. I forgot to take a picture tho LOL.

So for me, no needed to make dent / ding on resonator
