Key ignition barrel problem
So I've had my FR-S about two months. I've had it half a dozen times where I can't turn the key in the ignition barrel. Tonight was the worst, took a minute of trial and error for it to go, and I didn't want it to snap off in the barrel.
I already know to try pulling the steering wheel from side to side, but usually does nothing. For now I've put the other key I have on my keychain, thinking perhaps it's a bad key, but could there be another issues at play that others have had experience with?

Not really, but I'd go with the bad cut key theory.
You might try a little WD-40 or silicone spray on the key and run it in and out a few times. Back in the day, we used to squirt a little 3-n-1 oil in the cylinder, then heat up the key with a Zippo lighter and run it in and out a few times. But today, it’s hard to find a Zippo lighter ….. ![]() humfrz |

+1 on above post.
also carefully check you key, if you have dropped keys especially if they are in a big bunch you can get small burrs or damage on key. you might need to carefully remove any burs on key with fine sandpaper. Try your spare key and see if it has same problem. |

Thanks, so far after 3 days, no issues with using the spare key. I'm going to give it a week (it happened more than that) and see if I have conclusive evidence.

So it seems this problem has returned with my other key. Not nearly as bad as before, and I seem to fix it for a week or so by spraying some WD-40 on my key and running it in a few times, as suggested. I'm looking for a more permanent solution? An OEM oil? Silicone spray?

Uh just a tip, I read that WD-40 is actually bad for locks, can jam things up. I had actually used silicone spray a few days ago and works like a charm.
