I think something was thrown at your car. It looks really deep. I think dr. colorchip should work.

Something had hit your car and chipped the paint to the metal. Unfortunately you didn't catch it and it has been rusting under the paint for a while. The paint had flaked off and you're seeing the extent of the rust.

If you want to DIY, you can pick away the paint to expose all of the rust and sand it away using a piece of sandpaper glued to the eraser end of a pencil. Use rust converter on the spot to ensure all the rust is removed, then touch the area up with touchup paint and clearcoat. Buff and finish with a layer of wax. With a spot that big, it won't ever look like a professional fix but at least it should stop the rust from getting worse.

I'm not certain that anyone had done anything to your car intentionally.. It very well could've been a rock chip from the freeway. I have the same damage in my front wheel well. Happened in winter and I didn't see it until the next summer. I fixed it with the method described above.

That wasn't repainted was it? I've seen chips like that on shoddy body shop paint jobs, but seldom on factory jobs.

That looks like it's right above the door handle. Looks more like a paint defect of some kind that allowed rust to form under the paint and it's just now flaked off.

I'd probably have the dealer check it out because it could be worse...

This would actually make a lot of sense! The area is raised, which confused me because if someone hit it, it would be a dent!

Would this be covered under the corrosion warranty?

If it's raised (not dented inward) that would be a factory defect in the metal finishing and it seems hard to believe that they would allow a doink like that to leave the factory. I'd take it to the dealer and see what they say. I'm sure they're going to ask you if you've had the door panels off for anything.

If it's raised, it could be where the stud is that holds the door handle assembly. Maybe someone yanked really hard on the handle?
